Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Hi all,

I have a headache here. My year 2007 C5 would give out exhaust smell inside the car when driving hard or running quickly to 4K RPM. If I run beyond 180Km/h, It will give rotten egg smell intermittently. I used internal air circulation so it should not have let in the fumes from the outside.

Hi all,

Strange, I just realized that if I switch off the Fan to “OFF”(Air-con off), I will not get exhaust smell in the car at all.

So I can now rule out tailgate seal and spark plugs issues. I wonder if it helps to refresh the air-con gas in the car?

My grandad is in his 80's and has a citroen dispatch van hdi 2 litre diesel, 1997 reg, the steering rack pipes have gone and he is unable to buy a new one as they cost over £1,200 way to expensive. Its seem I will be doing alot of night driving nowadays. Is it possible to install HID into headlamp? Some say it will glare others but some say with the correct temperature and adjustment it will be doing just fine. Temperature should be 4k and I found one on 4.3k. Plus the already built in barrier inside the dip beam section really help to...

I slipped in the snow last week whilst putting a door on the roof rack on the silver HDI estate. Some paint from the door scraped off on the waistline of the car on it's way to the floor. I had painted the door a few days earlier with acrylic primer/undercoat(water based),and a water based gloss top coat.

I have just found that the head gasket on my Berlingo 1.9D 600 W reg van has blown and is dripping oil and drinking water at an alarming rate. I was just wondering if anyone on here had replaced theirs and if so how long did it take and most importantly do i need any special tools to do it? i have been quoted 400 to get it replaced so im guessing...

If its a 'D' should be non turbo which is easier. Its fairly straightforward but fiddly as access is limited, get yourself a Hains manual - they are not perfect but helpful.

I did it a few weeks ago, and was shocked, when I connected it, I was better but still sluggish and s [-X t, but after a bugger up with my ecu and Whippy fixing it, I'll put the lexia on tomorrow and see if there's any codes to be had. I've reading about some ways to test it so will try that too.

I still don't see the logic behind disconnecting a vital piece of the engine management system and concluding that because it runs worse with it disconnected that it must be ok ? :? Sure, it's doing something, that doesn't mean its working properly...

Hi

I have just changed one of the front callipers and the disks and pads, (caliper was sticking) I then bleeded the front brake.

the brake is still sticking. although the handbrake now barely gets to 1 click and is applied. can this make the brakes stick and can I just adjust it off?

I think it would be normal for the water to take a while to pump to the washers. Not sure about the washer nozzles but some are on a ball which is direction adjustable using a pin or needle in the hole.

ive got a 2.0 hdi c5 and my solution to this was a little simpler, maybe too simple but it worked! took out the console housing the speedo, removed the screws holding on the face plate and moved the needle round slightly on the shaft so 0mph reads 0mph and pretty much every other speed ( according to my sat nav but not sure how accurate that is !...

Concerning my Xantia TD estate, I wonder how to set the rear anti roll bracket to the height corrector, since replacing with new, and freeing up the turrets/linkages having first removed the unit, without removing the height corrector itself.

I set the control rod pin into the centre of the square hole of the actuating lever whilst set to normal...

Any idea what causes this ?
Driving along for a while and suddenly the heater which was normally running quietly at the speed set bursts into full power for a second or two then back to normal for a while.

No big deal but sometimes comes as a shock.
Just the slider needs cleaning or is it programmed to do this ?

It might be the transistors on the control board going haywire - or it may just be an oddity of the climate system - mine is sometimes unsteady in about mid position (and I've just fitted a new control board) - I don't use Auto anymore as that results in all sorts of odd speeds!

Starting yesterday when trying to start the car, it will just kept on cranking but no engine start, wait for a few minutes before cranking again and it okay, checked the battery fluid level and it was low so top it up. Hi guys finally sorted it out, It was the bad battery due to die soon, the cranking may sound at normal speed but it wasn't enough juice to start the engine. Changed to new one as the old one going out soon anyway and it starts just fine. The price was PITA though but it is better than being stranded somewhere far from home. :lol:

This is one of my mosy common moans about my C5 i think the fuel consumption is poor too bad and i am very fed up with and very close to selling it and going German ! :evil:

I have used my car to do 230 mile round trip then a couple of local trips, and i have almost used £50 worth of fuel i put !!
The car has just had a new genuine air flow...

All you knockers of the 2.2HDi. This was achieved going to Doncaster from London using the A3, M25 and then M1. I didn't use cruise as it uses more fuel than careful pedal work at no more than 60mph. The return journey i did late at night going slightly over NSL saw it fall down to 45mpg. :wink:

Hi I want to upgrade my seats but not sure if the wiring is present for heated seats etc does anybody else Know :?: Ps It is a 2003 Hdi Exclusive wanted to fit electric heated seats but haven't got time to do the wiring if it is not already there, seats come with door cards so that wont be a problem.

Ok, this weekend i finally blanked off the EGR valve with the blanking plate i've had in my wallet for the last 8 months. Initial impressions is that the car drives smoother than before and seems to be quieter when cold, why this is i don't know. Hi there, help!
I have a leaking o/s rear suspension strut. Corrosion at joint with sphere.
I could not get a new one locally so got a used set off ebay and was assured it was compatible,
should have known better.
It looks the same. Apart from the female thread that the hydraulic pipe fits in to is a good bit larger than the original.

Hi I have a1994 xantia 1.9 td and sometimes it makes a strange moaning sound as I walk away from it after a run in it, I would appreciate any ideas as to what it might be, other than that and a rattle from the front offside on anything other than a snooker table surface its runs great, its gone through 3 mot's and nothing has shown up, many thanks

Decided as I'd done a long run and was going on another today to check the current fuel economy on my 1994 Xantia 1.9d

I had filled up the car a few days before my long run and did around 25 miles around town. I then did a 440 mile run in two journeys with an overnight stop in between in the bad weather last weekend.

It's 60 mph and 2000 rpm for me :) and yes, the ambient and engine temperature makes a lot of difference. You will find a picture of the readout on my 406 last year on here somewhere, returning from the north of Scotland where I got 67.3 mpg over 650 miles, average speed 50 mph but it was about 28C.

Recently got an 02 plate 1.1i saxo desire which came with some very nice 14 Citroen alloy wheels. They would appear to be the pattern fitted to the VTR model.
Were these standard on the desire model?
Would this count as 'modified' for insurance. I suspect there not standard, but even wikepidea can't help.

Got a slightly weird one here. (Xantia S2 Estate 1.9TD)

When driving along the temperature guage on the dash reads about 85-90 as I would expect, but can then jump up by 5-30 degrees at times. These changes seem to co-incide when high draw electrical items turning on/off (eg. the blower, radiator fans, rear demist and headlights/fog lights etc.)...

I noticed this morning a bit of LHM in front of the drivers side front wheel on the tarmac, upon further inspection I found a leak in the elbow part of the strut pipe opposite the timing belt, there is a bolt that holds the pipe to the chassis and seems to be coming from there and finding the lowest point. Hello,
After MOT tester changed outer CV joints and lower arms, my brakes arre behaving strangely.
Under light braking there seems to be no braking effort and I can feel the ABS solenoids pulsating at the pedal, when the pedal is pressed harder the brakes are suddenly applied VERY hard.
My first thought was contamination on discs, but then the ABS...

Can any one help with instructions as to how to access the passenger air bag to fix squib fault that is keeping service lit on.
MOT in a few weeks.

I have already soldered the connections in foot well passenger side.
Ruled out both chair air bags.
Ruled out drivers Airbag in wheel.

Yes, ruled out both seats and drivers airbag by disconnecting them and running diagnostic which showed these as new faults. Faults disappeared when these airbags where reconnected.. Even when the airbag is deactivated fault still shows and keeps service light on. Any ideas

Hi my name is Toby and i hope someone can help?

I was driving my 1994 Citroen xantia VSX 2.0 the other day to drop my kids off to school when i had to break sharply and this had the adverse effect of switching off the radio but it switched back on,however now the indicators and brake lights will not work and i have a battery light on constantly...

Hi All,
After a slight altercation I need to replace the drivers door mirror on the 2005 C5 Exclusive. Dealer says £205 plus the price to paint it. There is one from a 2001car on ebay. Does anyone know if this would fit the 2005 model?

And is there a way to stop the search on here ignoring C5 from search terms?

hi,just got myself a lexia last week all installed/updated fine on my xp laptop.

My Xantia didn't come with radio controls buttons on the steering wheel. So far this has not bothered me enough to launch a conversion project. But now I've noticed you can buy used Xantia steering wheels with control buttons quite cheap on ebay, so I'm a bit tempted to try. I know I'll probably need an interface / signal converter of some sort to...

I am having a little problem with my key..The problem is it opens the car by remote..from a decent distance too.But i can't lock the car with the key by remote unless i use the key in the lock manually (if that makes sense.Do you reckon i need a new battery or is it buggered ?

Its HIGHLY likely the switch has come away, its a common thing...

The issue is the switchs are surface mounted and have no stengthning mounting... Theres one of two chances. The switch will break off and LEAVE the soldered corners on the board, OR it will break off AND also take the printed circuit with it, which then almost renders it...

What can be the cause for a pressure regulator that does not tick ? When the engine runs and I sit at the truck the height corrector works OK. When I turn off the engine and sit in the trunk it will not rise ( it does when the engine runs ). Is that a sign for a flat accumulator ? I know that when the accumulator is flat the pressure regulator...

If it's the same sort of pressure reg as on GSA / BX / DS then the usual problem, if it's rising OK is that there's some crud under the non-return ball seating or the ball itself is damaged.

It's accessible by removing the accumulator sphere and removing the flat steel plate heldon by a screw; examine the ball and if it looks OK, give it a hefty...

Do these have an actual hard disk or is it flash memory? Mine has stopped working, CD/Radio works fine, but select jukebox and it now makes the whole Navisystem lock up, and when i select CD the 'Copy CD to Jukebox' option is no longer selectable its greyed out.

Anybody had this issue before?

Neither key opens the door manually only the blipper locks/unlocks the car. Neither barrel lock has worked for a couple of years

One nasty thought I just had though - will the fob need to be re-syncronised after the battery has been completely flat for a long period of time ? :( I've had the battery off on my Series 2 for up to an hour and not had to do anything to get the remote fob working, but I've got a feeling that Series 1 infrared remotes might require re-pairing...

Afternoon,

Can anybody tell me what pressure the power steering of my '98 2.1TD Xantia runs at?

I had a problem with a leaky pipe earlier this week and I've had a local hydraulics company do a repair on it but I'm not sure if I should consider it a temporary or permanent repair.

The pipe in question was the one from the pump to the steering...

so if you want to really test, haul the wheel around to full lock and hold it there for a bit. You'll hear the pump straining.

If it survives that then you can happily uncross all your fingers!

It's in for a timing belt today so I'll give this a try tomorrow to put my mind at rest.
