Hi,
does anyone know the size of the washer for the gearbox drain plug please?
It's for a 1.9td Xantia.

I believe there are two different sizes, there are for the 2.1 XUD anyway. If you look on ebay you will find them quite cheap, I bought 10 of each.

Sorry, another attack of senior momentness, I am of course talking about the engine. I have never had to replace a gearbox washer.

It does depend on the gearbox, but if yours is a BE3 the washer appears to be part number 696312, 7X14 1.7 (that suggests a washer with a 14mm bore, rim of 7mm, thickness of 1.7mm).

Re: Gearbox oil Change
Some helpful person stripped the thread on my sump plug before I had the car but I've done 3 or 4 oil changes using PTFE tape on it - works a treat.

Plug or hole (or both)? If you can post up the RPO number and engine type (and if it has aircon) I might be able to look up the right part sump plug; there are several options.
The various options are as follows; 0311 28 (M14 x 125), 0311 29 (M10 x 125), and 0311 40 (M14 x 125 again).

Car is a 1.9Td non aircon with rp 6811 and paint code KJWCR.
Paint code is only there in case I got them the wrong way around.
I'm not sure about plug type yet.
I'll get one of each probably just to make sure.

Re: Gearbox oil Change
Just for if anyone else is after the same information. I did the job today, the drain plug was 21mm and the fill/level plug 19mm. I used a 16mm Cu washer but a 15mm may have been a better fit and a 14mm was tested but too small. I don't know the size of the square plug as I have no sockets to fit them and they are not easy to find up here.
Heres some pixs of the drain and filler plugs on my car.
