Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

These things are that old now, if you open the box, you're going to have to likely rebuild it.
Try find a Turbo 2 diesel box, it's not blisteringly different to drive. I'd keep that as it is and buy a quicker car.
Just my observations after owning mine for 36 years tuning it to a inch of it's life.
Then experiencing 450hp Meganes S2000s and now...

Fuel cut off at high boost

My CX 25 GTI Turbo seemingly cuts fuel at high boost. If i remember correctly the previous owner mentioned that the wastegate had been adjusted to increase boost slightly. I would like to see if just adjusting the wastegate to original spec would solve the problem or if there is something else at play.

I recently bought a 1985 Citroén Cx 25 GTI Turbo and I've been having some problems with.

It blows quite a lot of white smoke no matter if the engine is warm or cold. It stops if drive the car for about 10 minutes, but if I just let it idle up to temp it still smokes. This leads me to believe that it's just the catalytic converter that's getting...

An update for anyone interested in my GTI T2 rebuild, modernisation
The people developing the new ECU now have their car consistently running and a first dyno run at 1 bar boost resulted in 230bhp and close to 300lb/ft of torque, that’ll do for me!
I have sourced a DTR T2 gearbox, and have a custom clutch coming from Helix, so hopefully it’s...

My 88 TRD does not have this feature? did Citroen stop fitting it or is it only model specific?

As per the subject.. I'm surprised/amazed/ashamed etc to have only noticed this weekend that my 1986 S1 CX has no rear seatbelts.. and I only noticed when my 8 yr old told me so.. (cue 10 mins of don't be daft response from me)

There are blanking plugs behind the head rests and sockets in the bulkhead area under the seat, so obviously it was...

Does anyone have any of these trims for sale? I'm after a set for my Croisette.

I'm also led to believe they clip into trim rings which are missing from my wheels. Are these the same type later used on 405s and 306s, or are they different? If the latter does anyone have a set of those too?

I bought a CX GTi Turbo2 a year ago mechanically/electrically fantastic previous owner had spent £2000 just on parts, not including 4 new TRX's.

After taking it home I realised at some point a lot of bodging, blowover and touching up had been done to the the body.
I sourced 4 clean doors and O/S/R Quarter that where gone repair.

Well I’m pleased to report the beast lives on - it’s just sailed through its MOT today.

A couple of months ago the petrol tank sprung a drip, which turned out to be a pinhole leak due to rust adjacent to one of the straps. So I took it off, got it cut out and welded up and all’s good.

So, decent dry weekend, more progress. The engine spins over nicely(no plugs) and the new fuel pump and filter(and wiring) seem quite capable of filling up an old bottle of Rose.... :-D

I’ve spent lots of time and effort getting it to a workable useable state slowly eradicating it’s foibles, mostly engine electrics...
I thought I’d cracked it, it was in daily use, it was lovely, it’s recently rattled off a monster trip to and back from Lake Annecy and a raid...

To Annecy this time.
Denied my usual Spring time jaunts to Belgium to watch bike racing, and getting a bit fed up of just cycling locally, I hatched a mad plan to visit a friend in Annecy, drive there and back and ride up some hills and drink some beer

They are irresistible to drive, The last one we had a CX25 DTR Turbo Safari we drove well over 100,000, might even have been 150k miles and loved every minute of it. The XM was a good replacement but lacking diravi and those centrally mounted wheel hubs it was never quite the same, the visibility was better too.

Just seal it up. Get it as dry as you possibly can on the inside first otherwise it’ll fester from the inside but then just carefully use silicone sealant to seal it. When you go to tackle the whole job you can knife through the sealant.

CX RHS indicator comes on with headlights

1986 CX... Indicators work fine when headlights are not on.

When headlight switch is turned on then the RHS indicator illuminates (constantly, no flashing)..

Any suggestions for where I might start looking for a solution?

TRD T2 Additional Oil Temp LCD

When I had the LCD out of my TRD Turbo 2 I noticed that there is a PCB presumably to drive a LCD display for the oil temp as per Petrol Turbo 2, anyone know what is required to get this operating?

Presumably a sensor to monitor oil temp, connector for the PCB and a LCD to fit the display I guess any display apart from the clock would...

Turbo Charger No Boost?

Hi All,

Just recently I have had a rebuilt turbo fitted to my 88 TRD thinking it would restore the performance but it appears to have no boost pressure at all?

I have replaced the intercooler with a new core so no leaks unlike the original item and the hoses are all good, pressure checked the system, the wastegate operation and removed the air...

Does anyone know of a supplier for a vinyl roof covering for a CX Estate?

Vinyl roof covering is usually vinyl with a fabric backing/base. As such it could be machine stitched, and then the stitching sealed, from both sides. Maybe be better not to seam at all.
Why not discuss with the supplier? They may be able to help, or advise, and with suitable adhesive, too.

So, the resto build/mod of my GTI T2 continues. It’s soon time for the engine to come out to fit a new clutch and a DTR T2 gearbox
While it’s out, I’m going to take the opportunity to re-do all the engine hydraulic lines. I’m slightly daunted but figure it’s a fairly logical process....

CX Series 2 Drivers Seat back

Hi All,

On my 88 TRD S2 drivers seat back at the top inside there is a loose metal plate which rattles does any one know what this is?
Also can the seat back cloth be removed in situ to get at it, removing the seat not an option at the moment as the fixing bolts rusted solid!

So, I am now the proud😳 owner of a late GTI T2 and as long as I don’t give up/run out of funds I’ve got fairly ambitious plans for it....
The car has a really good solid shell, new front wings, nice glass all round and seems mechanically ok, no huge leaks anywhere, etc.....
I’ve now owned enough of these to know what I want to do to turn one into...

This is always an area of interest to me, having owned probably at least 15+ CXs over the last 30 or so years including quite a few GTI Turbos, C-GOO the Series 1 GTI Turbo and E-KAD the Prestige Turbo 2 that I regret selling every waking hour.... :?
I’m currently the custodian of a tidy, but far from perfect Series 2 Turbo 1 in black with black...

It had lain in a garage for 8 years and I got it it through its MoT with only a couple of advisories, ie seat belt fabric beginning to wear and some welding required around the sills.

So, after deciding to keep my GTI turbo I seem to have finally got the old crate running ok. After lots of work and head scratching the final upgrade was a handmade stainless exhaust after the old system disintegrated. This has made a huge difference to the car, it's faster and far smoother running

As per the title, I have a Series 2 Prestige that I'm afraid has seen far better days. At the moment most of it is there, but the interior has gone, and I'm slowly removing other bits.......
I'm putting here in case someone wants the rolling shell rather than scrapping her. :(

Actually, disregard my previous request, it seems the positive pole lead from the Battery to the Starter is not original, if yours can fit on an older Series 1 Prestige from 1981, I'll take that piece haha.

Hello All, the speedo on my CX S2 Prestige has failed, my local garage who are good with older cars tell me that the 'gearbox speed splitter' has failed, apparently a plastic part. that takes a drive from the gearbox with two feeds out (one for the speedo, not sure about the other - for the Diravi or the ECU?) Does anyone have a spare? Or know if...

You're lucky the other drive from the splitter didn't fail, leaving you with fully powered steering at speed!
I would also check that the drive cable hasn't crept out of the back of the speedo unit itself. This can happen
