French Car Forum

It's about the decoder for 189 €. It connects to the original NG4 without replacing it entirely.

I wonder if it's working with the OEM HiFi system as well as parking pilot system - so whether it automatically switches between A/V input as soon as the parking pilot is detecting.

It is not a unit which replaces the original NG4.

Yes Mick, I had missed this.

@5mapa5 Your best bet is to read the (long) thread immediately above this post. I think this is your only hope.

It's the first item in the post - Firmware N42c. Does the Mega link not contain what it purports to be?

Did you solve the issue? You'd need to look up the wiring diagrams, but sometimes you'll get no sound when your car's got an amplifier while the new head unit doesn't expect there to be one, or vice versa. Pretty sure you can change that in both Diagbox and Mirascript if you want to. A C5 x7's probably got the multiplexed amplifier.

If you watch the video you will see that the comments are turned off, video old 3 years and the guy is not active…

I forgot to write, CAN BUS issue is U0140 issue - BSM-BSI communication issue, something goes wrong if I remove the NG4. If I plug again the NG4 the permanent default desapears.
I did the PSA procedure to remove the device. (battery disconection with the differents steps to wait before an action)

The year is 2012.

Done.

I use nav very rarely, that's why I like the magnet solution, my phone is in my pocket 98% of the time.

Hey.

I have similar problem with the same unit rebooting constantly, but eventually it stops at some point. Sometimes it reboots 5 times in row when i start the car, sometimes it doesnt reboot at all, but it always loose date and time. Ive replaced the battery in the module which is behind the glovebox, tried another module - no difference. CD...

Does this thread help at all?

I don't think you should need an aerial amplifier - the car already has that.

As far as I can see, the 4 mounting holes are wrong!!
They should be not at the top, but opposite at the bottom of the screen.

The last few days i try to help a other forum user, so look at this post.

I've looked and can't actually find a bluetooth adapter that converts to streamed USB music file output - which would be a very interesting solution tbf - have you seen some of those then?

All I have found is the trad. USB powered bluetooth adapters that output either in FM for your stereo to tune into (I don't like those) or to aux jack/rca...

Please post in English.
Use Google Translate or DeepL if you need help with it.

Maybe 2 3v batteries in series. It can't be that difficult.

EDIT

I've just looked in my bag of batteries and found that I have a single 3v CR2 battery. I've had it for years (10? 15?) and it's only just exceeded its best before date. It's from a packet that originally had two in and I'm struggling to remember what I bought them for. I think...

The battery was new in October and the shunt fuse is in the Client position. I'll either have to live with it or perhaps look at changing to an RNEG.

I will describe my last very similar problem with time and data. I after 5 min all was set 2000-00-01 and 00:00.

I my case it was CF Card ( in your maybe Hard Drive) not connected all ( from...

So in this case if you have tried removing the Quadlock and checking the connections, we have to assume it's lost some configuration or worse.

I would suggest as a last attempt that you create a CD-R disc and burn the firmware files onto the CD and then finalise the CD, then try and see if the unit will boot off of that or attempt reininstalling...

First, see my post here to try and eliminate the error:

Yes, a simple solution, well done and you'll know for next time. I never had this issue with mine though.

VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

So the issue was a bad GPS antenna.

Thank you for your advice.

Depends what the problem is. It’s not always the internals but a corrupt HDD.

It’s easier and cheaper to try a CF Card replacement first. Reanimating the unit is not an option for most people who don’t have access to the software.

You need to ber in mind that the X7 can be supplied with and without the services module (similar to independent telematic unit) in which case the whole of the NG4 system is wired differently to incorporate this module if fitted.

Below is the SIM card for the X7 that is conencted to the Services Module.

What version go you have already?

The first connection is the main 12 way connection to the unit and the second is the LVDS connection.

If these are all in place then either you have a faulty NG4 or it has not been configured correctly for your specific vehicle options - parking assistance, equaliser amplifier, services module etc. etc. All these...

What was the new antenna that you bought?

Yes, just find some you can bear and overwrite them.

It's a legal requirement unfortunately and if you ever got caught or had an accident, it would have serious implications for insurance and personal liability if it was found that this was the cause. It's why CarPlay and Android Auto have to block any video playback apps from their systems.

As it's a legal and safety issue, we can't facilitate any...

Cheers Marc
I shall show him that next time I see him.
Must check the wife's settings.
FADER should be set to high...
Parking assistance OFF as she is always telling me I am too close the kerb, too close to the wall, too close to the car behind and YOU WONT FIT IN THERE.
Navigation set to OFF as she is always asking why have you gone this way,...

The system reads DVD Discs from the built in DVD player via the slot.
MP3 files or WMA files can be played from the SD card or USB.
Video can also be played from the AUX-In port in the glovebox, but can only send video signals to the screen from devices like a camcorder or games console or other device that can output a video out signal using RCA...

Please don't create duplicate posts as it causes duplication of answers. I've deleted your other thread on the Citroen Forum, so please keep all replies here.

Hard to say whether this will be the hardware in the Head Unit, the Display Screen, or the LVDS cable between the two.

No worries - once you have a SIM card in, when you go into the phone menu it allows you to select either Bluetooth or internal phone. As you already have the Bluetooth phone selected it will just continue to use that, but the annoying SIM message will go.

V F 3 is Peugeot V F 7 is Citroen, so that would also be a reason. Glad you have it sorted and thanks for the update.

So I can't help you as this vehicle has obviously had the NG4 above retro-fitted and was not standard.

Therefore there will be a loss of functionality for sure because a lot of these units also rely on a 'services module' for emergency calling and assistance. As you had the RD45 fitted at factory you don't have the SIM socket which is part of the...

I can’t advise on an aftermarket unit. I only support original systems.

Some here have fitted an aftermarket ‘Joying’ Android system, so you’ll have to have search on the Forum.

Hello, i have same problem on my Citroen c5 2010, no visible satelits and poor localization, every repairer wher i go said to me that it is posible to be problem with unit.
Sorry for my bad English xD

Ok, so here are the main pinouts. The Microphone is in 'Part 'b', however, be aware that your vehicle, like mine has the service module installed. This is essentially similar to an independent telematic unit (similar but not the same), so for emergency services (SOS and Citroen Services) functions to work it uses the SIM card to make these...

Gotcha. Thank you Marc. :)

Leave the synchronise with GPS box UNTICKED. Ticking the box can cause issues with the GPS N Week Rollover.

What map version have you installed?

@GiveMeABreak:
Thanks Marc, you help me a lot with this!!! youre great! thanks again.
Kees.

Yes, the SD card slot at the bottom front of the Head unit is specifically for playing media files - but they must be in the correct format.

Make sure you are using a normal SD card formatted with FAT32 (I used a 32Gb card). MP3s need to be between a speed of 8 Kbps and 320 Kbps and WMA need to be a speed between 5Kbps to 384 Kbps. Variable bit...

Where are the Maxi Fuses 4 and 5 located? Are they susceptible to damp or dirt?

The Equaliser Amplifier (if fitted - as this was an option only) is located front left in the dashboard as I have circled in yellow:

aMP.PNG

so that will be up on the roof rail at the rear near side inside the headliner. thanks for that

Not possible natively Matt. The video source in the glovebox is for peripheral equipment like camcorders, games devices cameras, portable DVD etc. etc. The system is not designed to switch to video using reverse gear not to accept a reversing camera. The unit has a speed sensor so blocks any video when moving at anything over a snails pace.

I...

Thanks Marc.

Sounds like she’s going to need to get over the little orange screen then :D

Hi Marc

Thank you for your help so far. If you could help with the fire wall update that would be great.

Ainsy

Thanks Marc,
Sorry for the delay. I appreciate your response.
Yes the pic you have attached is the system installed in my 2012 C5.
The car was exported to Victoria Australia. It is a C5X708 MY12 Exclusive HDi VIN: VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
I have now taken a pic and will attach.
I still love the car, the suspension is absolutely fantastic (even better...

Ok, so I have just checked out that message and there is a Technical Service Bulletin relating to that exact message.

Basically, the Flash Memory on the motherboard has been corrupted and PSA's solution is to replace the whole thing.

So If you have a spare NG4, you will need somebody with Diagbox that can code your vehicle's VIN into the...
