S2 Leathers

Post by xantiagreen »

Hi, I'm thinking of swapping over to leathers from an S2 xantia (mines 2001 late S2 model), I've read on forum that wiring was modified compared to earlier S2's for and may need to modify slightly is this true. Is it all straight forward or will I be better off sticking to the velour. If they stop working can they be manually moved forward and backwards so you can take the seat out, I remember my S1 xantia sunroof had a little hex key sat in its proud place to manually wind it close/open just in case the motor packed up.

Thanks
Faz

You'll be fine swapping seats Faz, There’s loads of topics on here with good guidance.

As far as I know, if a motor packs up then there's no manual method of moving the seat but then again the motors are very reliable and I've never known one die. Switches occasionally go intermittent but to be honest the reliability is such there's nothing really to get anxious about...

Cheers Jim, I hope its easy enough don't want to be chopping and changing wires and end up with the car accelerating when I want the seat to move forward.

Faz

Is your car an SX HDi 110?? IF it is an SX the plugs will be under the carpets under each seat ready to Plug N play!!

I put electric leather in an X reg 2000 SX HDi and the plugs were all there ready. It litterally was plug in and go.. but be aware ONLY ON SX Models.

LX and Fotre models do not have the plugs there ready...

What a bummer I've the Forte (Citroen faffing around) what's involved with connecting seats to a Forte model.

Did you get the seat wiring harnesses with the seats Faz?

So long as you're not worried about heaters it's not hard to wire them in even without the harnesses...

I can supply the necessary wiring diagrams if needed...

Not hard again.. what is normally there is the plug for the electric sunroof switch under the centre console. You can pick a live feed up from this.. if your handy with a multi volt meter you can trace a switch +12v from it.. remember the whole car is an earth...

then on the seat which is the slightly harder bit from the plug work out which is the +12v input feed.. an negative is easyer you can earth it on any earth point.. the thing to remeber is the seat switchs do the polarity change over for forward/backward movement. So as long as you get your initial positive to the correct wire in the seat conne ting plug under the seat you shouldnt go far wrong.. the other thing you may need to do is fit a slightly larger fuse in the sunroof fuse slot.. it may blow. But the feed wire to the sunroof switch is surfice to feed the seats power.
