French Car Forum

Don't hold your breath too much on the mini front Jim, that's a definite back burner project if I even give it any more time (I'd like to at least see what went wrong, but Emma's not keen on wasting time when we could free up space and cash just scrapping it, which is fair but I want to give it my best shot).

Black hopefully will be done this...

Im thinking slow boot up , possible cause the battery dying ,old ?

I once had a 'proper' Ka and really loved it. I was given it, the only car I've ever got like that... It had a bit of MoT on it and I made the most of it before finding it was like a colander underneath and stood no chance of another MoT.

Shame really as they were a tremendous little car...

On to happier subjects, yesterday I ran in a 5 mile...

Oh what fun Zel  I still bear the scars from my time of owning Metros - mental and physical...

Interesting on the subtle model differences...

I really ought get it back to its owner soon!

Nah! I'm sure you can find many, many reasons to keep hold of it for a good bit longer ;)

Thank you! In my case, the ECU did not shut down for an extended period. I didn't pay attention to the conditions as I was focusing elsewhere, but I can say that the light stayed on for quite longer than a few seconds.

I can check VN05N datasheet for how it could detect no-inductance. Tomorrow is Sunday. Have some time to read. :)

I can give...

Oh gosh! What a tale of woe Otter

May the test me 100% this time [-o<

Wow that alloy exhaust mount really suffered with the road salt!

My blue 308 ones were not as crusty but the rubber detached from the alloy (as yours looks to have done) they are bonded together so I guess the aluminium oxide creeps under to detach it.
I must have a look at the red 308 items as the new ones didn't get fitted to the blue 308...

I did my 1st BX 30 years ago, yeah, steering column and all sorts of faffing. Did a 309 20 years ago for a friend, this 309 was LHD, doddle, maybe 2 hours. French gits making it hard for RHD owners. :rofl2:

Excellent read Bobins :D Nothing like letting a project nicely mature before getting well and truly stuck into it..

The diesel pump will be no problem. At least it's not armoured ;)

Following with keenness :)

and number 3 can f oooopppppssss nearly said a bad word there I meant go away!

We all know what you meant to say Davie

Excellent Mike :D Looking forward to seeing you when you're in the UK....

Update!

Its been a while!

Well the Citroen count has fallen, driving home in Marina number 2 I was emailed by my barn landlord giving us all a months notice as he's letting to someone else who's paying more! So 20 plus cars were homeless, the BX 19TZD non turbo which was rough was the first to go as was the BX Athena which had a few niggles and...

Going back probably 15 years i drove from Bournemouth to Marchwood (Southampton) in a wagon and drag flatbed unloaded only to arrive at Marchwood and not be able to locate my work mobile phone.
During my walk round checks i had to change an O/S tail light bulb on the trailer. My work phone was sat nestled up against the twist lock exactly where i...

Nice car

Interesting the differences in spec between countries, of ostensibly the same car.
I've seen corrosion in that same general area on mk1 C5's as well (similar design).
I felt it came from underneath, rather than above.

Great to see you back Peter and the very good news it brings :D

Great tutorial.
Thanks for the STL files and the detailed explanations.

I’ve tried doing this on my C5 X7 2.0 HDi (2009), and the bulbs don’t even turn on.

I measured them and they draw about 0.9 A (~13 W).

I tried to check the link to your bulbs, but they’re no longer available.

Do you have any idea why this might be happening?

My hypothesis...

Oh Frenchy! I wish I had have seen your posts before about the clutch on this. I've had my head in the sand I'm afraid as I've had a lot going on.

It's probably not a bad thing that you change it before it went completely as it was impossible to find the clutch hydraulics for WarHorse when mine went.

I bought it way back in 2012/2013 to save it...

Yes, he used parts from the donor GB as far as I remember.

My plan is to overhaul my donor GB and replace current GB with it. The current GB developed a whinning noise at cold and a some shifting problems:
- sometimes the the GB is not able to switch to 4th gear when on operating temperature
- every switch up is whinning and seems to be late
-...

Was good to see you Ian :D It was odd that my Diagbox would not talk to your engine ECU although it could 'see' it n the global test and see the faults...

We need to try a different version of Diagbox...

Thanks you 😄😄😄

Gave the car a quick clean and put my private plate on. Loving it so far

Just a very short note to say a fond farewell to all my fellow FCF members, both past and present before I sign off.

I’ve enjoyed my tenure here over the past 10 years and hopefully have provided some help along the way.

Wishing you all the very best for the future and may your vehicles be gremlin-free.

Two weeks ago, I found the solution to silence the roof alarm...

..... You sold the car ?!?! 8-[

Any modifications to the wires or ?

Excellent on the Activa David :D

Well I got two the point

..

 Nice one :)

I did not think it was a direct swap.....

Good to see you finally opening up a blog Roger :)

Superb :D

The proper procedure for adjusting drum brakes is: Slacken the cables right off, turn the drum adjusters up until they're locked then adjust the cables to three notches and finally adjust the drums until they're free. That's been the way since drum brakes came on the scene :) The auto handbrake though is new to me, never had the pleasure of...

Great to see you posting on here again Kev! Magic

I have tonight accepted a decent deposit on the C4 which will be collected at the weekend!! :-D

Magic :D

ps, just found your Eastment website, so are you are that guy from the ccc mag? I followed your writings with relish when I first got this car, it was the best section in the CCC mag ever! (other than Nigel's of course!).. must ask you one day to remind me of the size drill you used to convert a welded up bleed hole in CX front spheres

That's...

Thanks Matt - yes I saw your new purchase, but I have not read all the updates on your thread yet (I'm on page 84).

Ah, I can waffle at a rate of knots! :rofl2:

Another you may find some interest in this .

A few of posts from the FCF archives reminisce favourably about the R16's column change, and maybe nostalgically about its umbrella handbrake.

I once had the joy of driving a 16TS and I fell desperately in love with it... Fast, stylish interior and very comfy... Something a Q-Car and the column...

I believe this C5 Tourer - was originally a main Citroen dealer demonstrator...so came with most bells and whistles.
The grey leather sold it to me ...as looks more sophisticated than black and makes the interior feel lighter .

Have removed the pos.6 maxi fuse, but happened nothing. Problem still exists. Also find a 30A burned out fuse positioned into G40. One and only fuse that I found burned in the whole car.
But moving 80A fuse to pos.4 from pos.3 have solved the problem. Everything is fine. No Lexia was needed.

Is that why the police have a 10% leeway on the speed your driving, or is that because old Speedos bounce up and down quicker than a garden rake on a Saturday night?

Beware - not all Police forces have a tolerance all the time. Thames Valley for example are famous for their 'no tolerance' purges on speeding on the M4, also I recall...

Zelandeth....I doff my cap to you sir I believe that may be the culprit!

I’ve changed the thermostat and bled the car several times and now it’s running too hot. It’s not overheating but under normal conditions it’s running at 100ish and turning the heaters on keeps it at bay. The fan kicks in a bit later now. So I’m either blaming the new thermostat or it’s simply not bled correctly yet. I can get it pressure bled...

Models with the AMVAR system have 2 suspension computers. One in the BHI and the other CSS is a separate one. On these models each has a separate function, but work together with the CSS computer controlling the suspension ECU in the BHI.

It could be a bit risky as the suspension heights are retransmitted to the BHI computer, so removing the CSS...

Excellent :D

Awesome :D

Yes it has both ecu's

Interesting work. I ended up just buying a new oil cooler from Citroen for my C6 and fitting a used one to my 407 whilst I figure out if it's going to last.

David.

Fair enough, the same place I bought my adaptor plate from now do the non sandwich version. If I was buying again, I'd be doing this and removing the water heat exchanger...

Thanks for the pictures Davie!

I did wonder if it would be at the same place. Good to see it again! The auction was August 2021, so he's had it about 18 months or so. I had a good chat with him when I was up that way and passed on some info about it.

Hopefully it finds a good home and gets the attention it deserves.

Well yes, white is perfect for that ..😂

Still got the scraper in my toolbox. :)

The Schlumpf collection would definitely be on my grand tour of Car Museums.
Silly question? How many of you have visited the Transport Museum at Alford?
