Given the number of 'After-sales campaign' notices concerning Takarta Airbags I have been made aware of when looking up parts from PSA for members, I thought I would post a link to the following documentary that may be informative concerning the issue with these igniters.

According to Takata, the chemicals in the airbags’ explosive charge can...

Disruption to Parts Service

As you may be aware, the consolidation of the old PSA to the Stellantis Group systems has resulted in both a merge of data tools and a requirement to migrate PSA accounts to Stellantis Systems.

This has caused some problems for organisations like ours and the Team are currently looking at the best way forward. This...

Not on a new modern car but on older Austin cars. It was an earth problem at one of the sender units. And again the voltage stabalizer. What you should try is make sure all the earth wires are clean and tight down then check all the under bonnet wiring.

When the ignition is turned on the speedo, tacho and fuel gauge go to max and stay there. Peugeot think it might be an earth problem. Anyone had this?

Cracked Sump

by JohnD » 15 Aug 2004, 19:56

First post

Shouldn't be too difficult to find another sump at a breaker's. If you have aircon, the compressor needs to be moved to one side. The sump bolts are not all the same length, so they need to go back where they came from. It would probably be best to 'gunk' the engine then run it for a few days. Then you'll see where any oil is leaking from.

Last post

Have now got myself a peugeot 405 estate. Upon looking underneath it there appears to be an oil leak. This has been traced to a crack in the sump.
So how easy are these to change and is there anything that can be done on a temporary basis to see if there are any other leaks as well?
Cheers

There will only be 2 springs with it, You have a torsion bar set up on the back & unless you have done one before, its best to find someone who knows what there doing to lower the back end one of these.
Im not saying its not possible, but they can be very troublesome to fiddle with.

Peugeot 306 Wiper Fault

by r_306_XSi » 11 Aug 2004, 19:15

Yup - I have the same problem!
I have proved it is the fron wiper delay relay thats the problem.
Relay is not on the wiper as many dealers claim! I'm still trying to find where it really lives - I do know it is a light blue 6 pin relay as is fitted to the rear wiper. If anyone knows where this relay lives - please tell me!!

rover 218 sld turbo oil leak

by RichardW » 10 Aug 2004, 17:35

Sadly, it's probably the head gasket - as they get older they tend to start leaking oil down the back at the timing belt end of the engine as that is where the main oil feed gallery to the head is. You can either live with it, or change the head gasket (no mean feat!) It might be slightly easier in a Rover as the engine may not be canted so far...

405 brakes

by fastandfurryous » 06 Aug 2004, 14:16

First post

What matters is the manufacturer of the brakes. Peugeot have this lovely purchasing policy of buying whatever the cheapest brakes are on the market. So one month they will be using Girling, the next it will be lockheed, the month after that it will be another make (the name escapes me) and then back to girling again. The discs/drums are USUALLY...

Will a set of brake drums from a 96 405 fit a 94 405???
Ive got to overhaul the back brakes at some point in the future and ive just seen some drums going dirt cheap and just wondering if they will fit????
Thought id best check, its annoying going to the shop and finding there is Xnumber of possible replacement parts for the bit you want...

I understand that if you search hard enough on then internet that there is a well documented way to DIY plip re-programming......

Last post

I need to replace the remote control on my P Reg 96 306. Does anybody know the re-programming procedure if I buy a replacement from somewhere like ebay etc. I believe you have to point at the receiver and switch ignition on or something. I dont have my op manual.

STOP Warning light

by PowerLee » 03 Aug 2004, 18:40

First post

Hi
Check you havent blown a fuse in the fuse box first & then check the
Brown 2 pin plug next to the thermostat, Unplug it, clean it with some WD40 or similar, pin the terminals tighter with a small screw driver & plug it back on & report back.

Last post

I have a 1999 1.8 306 XS, on leaving work the other night the STOP warning light appeared, this is a new car and I panicked. I contacted peugeot and they said it should be okay to drive after dismissing problems it could be.
After leaving my car for approx two hours I went to drive it at about 9:30 last night, so the engine was cold, I started...

406 TD Coolant Issue

by PowerLee » 02 Aug 2004, 20:37

I would try a new cap on the tank first

Last post

Just bought a 1996 model which had apparently had a very recent coolant change however, it was periodically leaking coolant after being used. Did it have too much coolant in? has this model got a drain to dump excess coolant if overfilled? it has stopped now but the coolant level is only just at the minimum mark in the tank so needs topping up...

Tale of an MOT and a plea for torque

by mbunting » 02 Aug 2004, 21:43

First post

Obviously not as much as you used before !
Seriously, with this sort of thing, I wouldn't get too scientific, and just tighten it until it feels tight.
Presumably there's some kind of seal / gasket ?
Mat.

Last post

My 306 failed its MOT a fortnight ago on sub-frame mounts, OSF track-rod end and emissions. I took a day off work in the week to sort these bits out (with parts purchased from GSF, natch) so that I could get the old boy in for the free 7-day re-test. I got down there at 8:30 and was the first to be seen, so the engine was nice and warm and I could...

You are correct, the offset is different.
I wouldnt fit them to my own car because of this, but im sure somebody will be along in a minute & tell you to ignore me.

Hi
I have been offered a set of 206 14 steels with 175/65/14 tyres to go on my 205 turbo diesel to replace the 13 steels.
Does anyone know if they will go straight on with no problems as I think the offset is different?
Cheers
Michael

306 turbo diesel immobilised help !!!!

by fastandfurryous » 04 Aug 2004, 20:20

First post

you can run a direct feed from the battery positive straight to the stop solenoid, and see if the engine will run like that. Only problem is that the engine will now not stop until you remove said cable. If you can find an ignition live somewhere, and wire that to the stop solenoid, that will completely bypass the engine immobiliser. That is,...

306 suspension noise

by P 2501 » 30 Jul 2004, 18:16

It does sound like the anti roll bar drop links, but these usually go later in the cars life. How many miles has it done?

Last post

I've been noticing some noise coming from the front of my 99 ph3 DTurbo, its mainly noticeable on uneven roads at low speed - kind of squeaky rattle is the best way I can describe it. There is also an occasional slight 'clunk' when making long turns at around 30-40mph. The car was serviced recently and I asked them to check it out but they said...

engine oil leaking

If it's a diesel then you possibly have a leak at the bottom of the oil filler neck. 50p for the O ring seal from citroen of Peugeot. Leaks all down the front of the block and over the sump. Also the gasket on the rocker cover may have gone, this will leak down the back , front infact all over the block. Agian cheap and easy to replace from GSF.

Last post

where are the common point for oil leaking. ive got holdd of a cheap 306 and seen the persons drive and it has oil stains all over it. he says its coming from the back of the engine
