Post by b21playa »

now to tell the truth i dont really want to undo it and replace the gasket so can i use the gasket seal around the outside to seal it up?

Sealent is a waste of time on sumps, Ive tried it twice & it didnt work.
Bite the bullit & fit a new gasket & you will be amazed at the result.
The gaskets only about £7 from Peugeot too.

Are you sure it just doesn't look like a sump leak? Clean off the entire engine, and then look again - may save you unnecessary work!

i need to take the intercooler off and check the leak there first and then i'l clean it and see if thereare any more

The sump gasket is easy to change, You might have to remove the bolts for the aircon pump first if its fitted & watch out because some of the bolts are different lengths, dont mix them up.
Its a sod to do with just axel stands, Much nicer on a ramp.

is it realy simple to do then. I haven't looked into doing this, but mine has a leak, nothing to worry about really, as there is no oil on the garage floor, or perhaps there is at the bottom of the inspection pit, and I havent noticed.

As PowerLee knows, the sump on my 1.9 Mi16 is leaking VERY badly and I've tried twice to fix it. First time with a gasket, 2nd time just using sealant.
There's on two possibilties, each I'm doing something wrong, or the sump is warped.
