Got in the car the other nite to find the no water warning light on and very little water in the rad. So i topped it off and drove home and topped it off again when i got back. next morning still full.
checked all the pipes and clips all seemed fine and then saw some anti freeze deposits on the rad. After a long struggle for a few hrs and some inventive thinking i got the rad out and got it tested (and the haynes bol says you have to take lots of front off to get the rad out bol***s do you).
long story short the rad was fine but a small hole in the bottom pipe was found. If only i had found it b4 getting the rad out. would have saved myself my next problems which i need some help with.
Ive sorted out that little leak (creative pipe work and excessive jublie clips 101) but when filling the system back up i found 2 probs.
Mid way up the header tank on my rad is a sensor im guessing water
level sensor and ive got a leak from here. it had loads of crap on it when i was removed for the rad test and was cleaned b4 putting back and my thermostat houseing is leaking.
So my questions are: the thermostat houseing does it have a gaskit that i should renew cos i dont remeber taking one off? or do i just need to change the one on the thermostat?
Can i buy a new o ring for that sensor or is there another solution ive over looked.
cheers guys
ps its a 405 1.9td m reg and starting to get on my tits
cooling system/rad problems

Cheers lads managed to get a few mins under the bonnet today, in fact i spent longer in the que at b&q getting tape then i did fixing the car.
I got a new seal for the thermostat, wrong size like but after a comparing the new one to the old, the old one looks absolutly destroyed. Just have to go back 2moz to get the right one damm sunday opening hrs!!! doesnt everyone want to work on theres cars on a sunday arvo?
As for the water sensor while looking for some ptfe tape i came across a pack of various o-rings [:D] for 98pence in the pluming section and as luck would have it, it fits like a glove and the rad no long leaks there.
so an early morning back to the parts shop and hopefully a working car again!!
powerlee yup my 405 has an airbag no idea if it works i dont fancy having a crash to find out!!!
cheers si

Thats really strange, Ive got an airbag on my 405, Its a 1995 Executive petrol 1998cc & I havent got a low water level light, There is no sensor in my rad & the plug isnt there for it.
When I asked the electrician down the dealer he said Peugeot use those wires for something to do with the cat & ecu.
So it looks like petrols dont have a low water light & diesels do.
