peugeot 405 1.9 diesel problem

Unread post by trafic9 »

right.first some history.we bought our p reg peugeot 405 dt a few weeks ago.at first the car ran fine.then during a recent hot spell we discovered a fault.when the engine gets hot the car stalls and restarting it is a real hard job as the car keeps stalling.i have changed the priming pump because it was always soft.this made starting slightly easier but not by much.changed air filter as someone told me that it effected the engine. all pipes look to be tight and snug with jubilee clips.please any suggestions

This sounds more like an electrical fault to me, Welcome to the world of rubbish 405 electrics!
The battery connections Peugeot use are a joke, The 3 large round connectors behind the passenger side headlamp give trouble too.
I would check the electrical connections at the STOP relay on your fuel pump.
Mines a petrol so I cannot really help you with my knowledge on the diesel engines.
