turbo whistle

Post by b21playa »

hi all
just a quick question, as i was parking up and getting out of the car, a 406 DT was doing a 3 point turn and i seemed to hear a sort of turbo whistle
i dont get that and i want to know is that normal or not
is it possible i have a leak or something??
also what pipes are used for the turbo so i can check and make sure there is no leak
any methods?

It may be a leaking exhaust. My old work van used to start whistling, then the exhaust would get replaced and it stopped. Might be worth a look.

I had the same problem on my 406td, turned out to be the manifold to downpipe gasket had broken up, i got a new one from my local exhaust place for £6 and fitted it myself and it doesnt whistle at all now
