CLUNK on quite new car!

Post by Rob Marshall »

Collegue has a 206 (or possibly a 307) people carrying thingy!
Anyway, it makes a loud clunk when turning right.
The anti roll bar (mounted behind the engine) appears to be moving from side to side and making contact with the back of the subframe. Is it suppose to do this?
It is quite odd, as the antiroll bar looks quite sturdy, but the links that attach it to the suspension (a bar with a ball joint on each end) look really puny!
It is on a 03 reg.

Think this may be one of those 'manufacturing defects' that dealers some times forget to tell you about. Wifes Renault Magane convertible had this almost squeezy sound after about a day or so from new turned out to be anti-roll bar bushes were kaput. Dealer replaced ASAP but explained that this had been a common fault due to "water ingress in the making of the bushes" apparently.

make sure the bolts securing the roll bar are tight if they are take a look at the rubber surrounding them to see if they are worn or non exsistent.
