Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Wife's C3 VTR power steering is making some very strange noises. It's like a sort of intermittent growling noise which stops when you aren't turning the steering wheel.

On a traditional system I would suspect low hydraulic fluid or some contamination but on this the power steering is electric, with everything built into the rack and controlled by...

If it only occurs as you are turning the wheel, then can't see it can be anything but the rack - worth a check though that it's not the strut top bearings (turn the steering lock to lock with it jacked up to look for juddering as they turn). Can't get a price from service.citroen, but anecdotal evidence suggests it's £lots :cry: bba-reman appear...

I hope you accept me asking about a foreign van here, but it is a citroen at heart and it's the citroen bit that has broke. From the day after I got it when I went to meet Malcolm to do the deal on the c5 it has been idling a bit rough and sometimes stalling. The component parts of my Activa's clutch recently decided that they didn't get along any more, and failed suddenly on the 2nd January. (To be fair, there was a warning, consisting of a strange vibration when taking the clutch up. This started the day before the failure - one to watch out for if you're driving a larger engine Xantia or early C5)....

Just wondered if someone can help.
my Van cuts out intermittantly with no DTC codes logged.
It cuts out on tickover right up to motorway speeds but allways restarts (sometimes quicker than others).
I have checked looms and fuse box under bonnet for damage/corrosion all ok.
I have changed the large maroon relay but the fault still is preasant....

I traced the fault using this forum. I Found the engine loom wires just behind the oil cooler had rubbed through and gone green causing a high resistance. there was no damage to the tracking that was meant to keep the looms in tip top condition. a few heat shrink connectors and job done.

Noticed recently that the brakes are not holding a servo vacuum after turning of the engine, but today there was a noticeable hissing sound inside the car after releasing the brake pedal. I'm fearing that this is the servo unit, and from the looks of it most of the car has to be dismantled to get at it.

Anyone had any experience of servo issues...

If theres a continious hissing when running the Servo is goosed!

Had this on a 306, instant MOT fail, so I fitted one from a L reg 306 to a R reg 306, all was well again. Not quite as hard as I expected it to be.

Hi all
My wife's C3 is in need of a complete new door mirror unit (don't ask!!).
I know that Citroen want around £25 just for the mirror glass but does anyone know what the parts price is for the whole unit? On Citroen Service it looks like the part number is 8149.
Assuming the citroen price is too high has anyone else fitted a third party mirror...

I want to add a leisure battery alongside my cranking battery (with a split charge relay) and my engine bay has plenty of empty space in it). I'd love to make use of this, instead of using up space inside the car.

Is there a way I can add an extra battery mount?

I'd favour nut & bolt rather than self-tap, although the latter would be a good way of setting up the tray & supports temporarily to see how it all fits.

First though, I'd want to sort out the size of battery (physical dimensions) before committing to a particular size tray.

I had a problem in starting the engine see link to the thread

My Xantia has failed its MOT on welding and a front suspension arm bush, but the garage can only get the bush with the fromt suspension arm attached....

Anyone know if you can obtain the bush on its own, and where from.

Was going to get filter replaced today but mechanic says the reheated is open circuit.
One post on another forum says a guy bought a new reheated but this new reheater was also open circuit.
Is there something special about these reheaters, they apparently look like a rectangle any they are £45+vat to replace.

I have a few electrical strangenesses with my radio:

- When I switch my back wiper on and then *off* (or when it reaches its return position if I don't turn it off) the radio *always* turns off and on
- When I use the roof-mounted switches for my backmost windows the radio *always* turns off and on
- When I use the side switches for my backmost...

Driving home, empty road, I put my foot down and accelerated to 60 mph before using engine braking to the roundabout.
The K engine management light came on as I was slowing .. I went round the roundabout and accelerated up a reasonably steep hill 700ft in a mile or so. I had what I thought was an extra 20BHP as I accelerated. In fact I had trouble...

I think I've also found a faulty injector .. no. 3 which at 1250 RPM where my missing seems to happen, and above is the only injector to have a positive value.. all the others are closely matched on a negative value.. So I think I'll try an Injector swap tomorrow, together with a look at the pump connectors, and run the tests again.

Hi all, I would like to change the gearbox oil in my C5 but having crawled under the car and taken a look at the drain plug I'm not sure how to proceed. The car has an AL4 box fitted according to Service Citroen so my understanding is that the drain plug should have 2 hexagons, one being the drain plug and the other being the level plug, one...

i know the usual cause of this pipe popping out, but my TZD regulator doesn't tick hardly at all,

when the pipe is out and engine idling citro blood spits out of the stub of rubber pipe at the regulator, i think it spews out at a higher rate as the engine revs increase,
so i think its regulator related

The seepage pipe will take an amazing flow of fluid without popping. I was amazed after removing mine for engine replacement to discover that the pipe was completely full. I then started the engine to discover that fluid was spurting out and travelling some 10 feet through the air.......

And no, the pipe did not pop off and there was no jubilee...

Hi, I have a 2007 Berlingo 600 HDI LX 75 van, the type approval number is missing from the V5, it should start with e2*/ etc

Is it possible to obtain this number as I need it to register the van in France ?

Does anyone have a similar van that I can have the number from or know where I might be able to get it from.

Hi I have a 2002 Phase 1 Berlingo with a knackered speedo, if I replace it will it show the mileage on the car ie 87000 or will it show the mileage on the replacement speedo?

I am new to the forum so a snowy hello from Norway!
I am also new to a pre owned Xantia which needs a little TLC.
I have a small list of to do's :

Yeah pretty gutted. Was so looking forward to having a nice car - now it will be two toned ha ha - have found a wreck to salvage parts from but it'll never be what it was sigh. A witness called police about it and the cops left a note to call the station on the windscreen - which we did but they only gave us the bad news that they other party had...

Hey,
I recently bought an ex company, 2009 c5 exclusive. I've noticed a few things don't work or are not activated and hope some of you might be able to help me.

Firstly the daytime running lights cant be activated as there isn't an option on the screen where they should be located.

Secondly my Navidrive system has no option in the menu for...

Just a few questions, so my hydractive ecu is toast... so... while i'm waiting for the my transistors to come, I was wondering if it's possible to operate the solenoid without the waveform? Maybe give it 12v, and step it down to a lower voltage after some time (using a capacitor). I am not sure, what's the general opinion on this?

I would think that if you determine the resistor value first and connect the capacitor across it and switch it to the solenoid, the charge in the capacitor should be enough to engage it then the voltage will decay to the resistance fed value.

Is FCF Couriers still alive & well?

I only ask as I've got a Citroen part I'd like collected in Devon that is too large & awkward to be collected by regular couriers. :rofl2:

Can any of you please tell me, is there Eolys Fluid fitted to 2.0 16v HDi 138 models 2008 year??? IS there a tank to top up???

We have one in the family now, but the anti pollution warning popped up and put the management light on BUT did not limit power or revs...

Here's me hoping this is something to file under the heading of it just does that, ignore it.

Something I have noticed on my Xantia ever since I got it is that sometimes (but by no means always, maybe 1 in 10), just as you turn the key to start cranking, the ABS light briefly lights. The reason this puzzles me is that my car doesn't have ABS!...

Thanks for that. So long as it doesn't stay on am okay with it! So far has only ever blinked for a fraction of a second, so not a worry.

Bet if it did stay on that would cause some head scratching at the MOT. What does the testing manual say about a warning light being on for a system which does not and has never existed?

Hi All,
It has been diagnosed recently in my Xsara Picasso 2004 2.0 HDI. Error code p0340. There is no symptoms on the car except it is a lack of the power.
I have just ordered the sensor and awaiting for a delivery. Can someone tell me where it is located ?

OK.. That was a cam shaft sensor... cost 18pounds for a sensor... easy to replace.... it is under the plastic engine cover on the left side (little bit back)... It is fitted by one torx screw.... After changing and reset an error the car is powerful and no issues at all... So not all the time you car must have a problem with the start if this...

Hi all,

I've had a Lexia on the car, and found the hydractive ECU to have three faults, the usual steering wheel angle sensor, a weird fuel pump fault (what the hell is that about), and the one that didn't clear was the permanent front electrovalve fault. What does that mean? Does it mean the 'actual' electrovalve is faulty or broken or does it...

No expert, but the only way I could cure my airbag fault (now an MOT failure, if I've been informed correctly), was to replace the COMM2000 unit with a recon. A pig of a job but it solved it. Mine was permanently on and the seat connections had been checked. If it's intermittent, maybe a dry solder joint heats up and establishes a connection?

Hi
Went to switch my windscreen wipers on today and they are not moving but I can hear the wiper motor . Washers all work as does the rear wiper. Any ideas what can be wrong?

I had as best a look as I can, used a mirror and a torch. The exhaust joint looks fairly clean, I'll replace the seal though with this one . I noticed the rocker gasket is leaking so that needs to be changed, the little I could see of the manifold gasket had no soot but I reckon I saw about 5% of it at most. I think I'll get this kit as well...

I recently purchased a used 2009 C5 2.7 litre exclusive sedan. This is my third Citroen after a 1220 GS Club which I purchased many years ago in Berkshire and a new 2.0 l HDI C5 in around 2003.

Hi all,
Back with a new problem. My 2.7 HDI C5 has taken to sticking in Park. I have done some research and am of the opinion that the solenoid or wiring terminations to this device may need some attention.

My question is: How do I remove the centre console?

Any pointers please?

This problem turned out to be a relay which was sometimes not changing state apparently

A part number PE9673062180 which is described as a electric relay 25 Amp was replaced by a dealer and the problem was fixed.

1997 xantia 1.9 td , had a 2nd hand battery in and occasionaly especially when cold , the lights and ignition would come on
but just a click when turning the key or nothing at all .
Last year i had every checked out for this without a fault being found (starter motor etc)
To be safe i just bought a new battery with 2 yrs guaruntee and this morning...

When I changed my radio ,the BSI box failed in my 2002 1.9D Berlingo. It is still running but none of the interior lights work. Is there a company who can diagnose/reprogramme the BSI or even supply another ex-breaker reprogrammed to fit ?

I still highly doubt the BSI is at fault here, The BSI gets blamed for lots of electrical problems but in reality BSI failures are actually quite rare.
I've also rectified lots of failed DIY & Halfords radio installs on multiplexed Citroens, never saw any permanent damage yet, nothing normally more than blown fuses.

wondering if there are any options to replace steering wheel on 1998 series 2 Xantia - Turbo diesel? My wheel is now very worn around edges. I do not use radio controls as I have replaced the original unit. With the airbag are there any after market options or is it a case of trying to find an original from a breakers?

Well decided to remove the whole engine as the head is a PITA to remove. I managed to split the head from the engine block and I saw that the cooling channels are completely blocked. Have to clean them thoroughly and in the process I will also change the piston rings and check the turbo.

Anyone has some tricks that could help me removing the...

Well pressure is being lost somewhere because the STOP light needs about 15sec to go out, even though the car stood for just 5-10min. In the morning it needs more than 30sec. How to check if the anti-sink valves are operating properly? I am thinking of putting used ones on, but I have no idea if they are working properly... Just a thought has...

My Xantia 1999 2.0 HDI 110 just stopped starting. The engine turns when i turn the key but it wont fire. No symptoms or any other problems I experienced before.

I have had this car for 1.5 years, and ever since I had it, while turning on the immobiliser key light would blink alongwith the beep, but the car would start fine. The light and beep...

just back from taking the pooch up the woods and raking out some bike trails for the weekend, pulled up the drive put windows up, as the drivers got to the top there was a nasty Crady ping noise and some bits falling off inside the door.
am i roight in thinking this is most probably the plastic widow clip?? window stayed up btw.

I'll bet a pound to a penny it's the plastic slide block that has broken.
A new one on ebay is about £8. I've changed one. It's not difficult. I bought a kit of slide block, cables and spool. The only thing that was correct fitment was the slide block.
I think a member called Faz had the same problem recently.
