Heater cold
Hi I have Citroen Berlingo 600 van 2002 the heater does not get warm, the blower is fine as I have just changed the Resistor pack. This model does not seem to have a heater matrix or any associated pipework to run one, cant seem to find any mention on the web on how to rectify this problem, is this some form of 'black Art', do I need some incantation from Hogwarts, short of ripping the dash apart I cant seem to see anything that could warm the air. Can some one explain how it is supposed to function or does someone have a wiring diagram that would detail the parts and wiring as the Haynes manual is next to useless and details a heater matrix. Totally perplexed. its probably a simple fix if I knew what I was looking for.

Re: Heater cold
If you post or PM your VIN I'll be able to have a look - as there are a stack of different Berlingo models.

Re: Heater cold
It will have a matrix - it will be well buried in the dash mind you! Heat is controlled by flaps, so either: It's holed and someone has bypassed it; It's blocked; It's not been bled properly; One or more hoses has collapsed; the stat is knackered and the engine is not getting hot; the flaps in the heater box are broken and not directing the flow to the matrix.
It should be possible to see the hoses in the engine bay - they are usually at the flywheel end of the engine on the bulk head. You should be able to see if they are bypassed, and to feel if they are getting hot, which will tell you if you have hot water going into the van or not, and therefore where to start looking.

Re: Heater cold
VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff] Looks like this is the vin the heater used to work fine, and there are no hoses going to the heater matrix as it has not got one, the holes are blocked off with foam behind the firewall cheers

Re: Heater cold
Ok, so as Richard says, you do have a heater (Part 1 in the first Diagram), and in the second diagram you can see the air heating resistance (Item 2)

Re: Heater cold
Nope no heater matrix the pipes that would go there are joined behind the engine. It is a dw8 engine I have replaced the resistor pack and it made no difference as this is to do with the blower which is okay. Is there another earlier system for the heater as mine has the small headlights

Re: Heater cold
Er.... if the heater hoses are joined in the engine bay, then that will be why it not longer works! Possibly there is an electric heater element that was providing some heat before, and it has bust which is why no heat now. I'll see if I can find it later, but the best thing to do would be to fit a new matrix and make it work like it was intended to - not all that easy mind you.... dash out time.

Re: Heater cold
I have had 2 of this model and neither had a heater matrix, and they both worked fine without one until this one stopped working. I wanted to know where the electrical element and control system where situated so I didn't need to pull the dash apart, it would also be very nice to understand how it worked but it looks like Ill have to get the trusty spanners and torx drivers out, when I find out I will let you all know for future reference, if you come up with a solution please post and it might save some time, cheers

That's what is coming up for your VIN, so can't help you with that further if you're saying it's not there...

Re: Heater cold
It definitely had a matrix when it left the factory, as did all of them. There is no extra electric heating, so no idea what was going on with apparent heating. It needs a new matrix...
