ECU mounting

Post by Eddie78 »

I have a Berlingo 2.0 HDI mark 1 and the ECU is just flopping around in the engine bay it is fastened to a steel back plate but the plate is not fastened to anything, currently it is jammed between the battery and the black relay box,

Has anybody got any info on how this should be mounted? just I dont like the idea of it getting bounced about

There should be a couple of bolts above the top of the suspension strut on the inner wind kind of below the edge of the wing, and one similar on the bulkhead. The backplate bolts to these, and as you see, the ECU bolts to the backplate. The bolts are well hidden!

Yes, there should be two cut outs in the opposite side of the blanking plate to the side the ECU plugs go. They "hook" onto the bolts which stick out the side of the inner wing, and there should be another on the side of the backing plate that attaches to the bulkhead

spot on thank you, makes sense now, the n/s strut has been changed (breakers marker pen on it) and like most jobs that have been done on the van they where half cocked

I'll see if I can find an underbonnet pic of mine when I get home in the morning to give you a more accurate idea - I should have one as I swapped out the ECU for a remapped one, and took pics of taking it apart.
