Given the number of 'After-sales campaign' notices concerning Takarta Airbags I have been made aware of when looking up parts from PSA for members, I thought I would post a link to the following documentary that may be informative concerning the issue with these igniters.

According to Takata, the chemicals in the airbags’ explosive charge can...

This has caused some problems for organisations like ours and the Team are currently looking at the best way forward. This...

just a quicky as im looking to buy one

if the peugeot 306 gti6 and xsi share the same 2.0l 16v engines why is one 167 bhp and the other 135bhp

this applies for the phase two models!

the xsara vts also has 167 bhp and a 5 speed box

Hi

The XSI & GTI6 DONT share the same engine

The XSI uses the XU10J4R engine

The GTI6 uses the XU10J4RS engine

The XU10J4RS has a different intake manifold system, cams & ECU over the standard XU10J4R engine

Hey guys, i took my car to my local garage last night, we took off the top engine mount and found.... a hole.

Apparently a common problem on the more powerfull 306's, we had to make a plate for the engine mount to screw into. I have taken photo's and will post them here later today.

Yay! No more click-click-click :)

I've done trials on veg oil in my Xantia. The fuel is preheated by the cooling system anyway so the veg oil went straight in the tank. At 100% veg the startup was a bit lumpy on cold mornings and sometimes I put the glowplugs on twice. Absolutely no problems, mileage down by 1 or 2 mpg.

Revs don’t always drop?

by peter007 » 24 Oct 2005, 02:06

I can be driving along and just put clutch in (say for example when you change gear) and the revs just stay the same (they won’t drop down to idle speed). So I can come up to a junction with my foot on the clutch and engine could be constant at 3 thousand revs and then after 30 seconds just decide to go down to normal?! When I start the car it...

Ok going on your other posts, (K-light on also), your ECU has a fault code stored in it, Id say its something idle-control valve related. Get it code read at a local testers. I think, that if your K light (engine diag lamp) is lit, your ECU may have gone into Limp mode so dont expect to be passing the emissions test on the MOT (i think).

Cure this problem by freeing the rear brakes up:

and I'd reckon the fuel consumption should improve. A diagnostic on the ECU to find out why the K loght is staying on should just about sort the rest.

Hello all,

I think this is a very common problem on these engines. They start to leak oil from the HG at the front right corner. Dribling down the block causing a mess and potentially bad for the cambelt.

The time has come for me to finally find out why my airbag light doesn't come on with the ignition like it's supposed to. I'm hoping it's just going to be a blown bulb, so I need to get the IP out and have a butcher's :)

For future reference, it's perfectly feasible to get the instrument panel out without removing the steering wheel or airbag.

In threory, there's only 2 options for the number of teeth, about 90, or about 20. The difference is instantly visible, as the teeth will either be just a couple of mm (like in the photo above) which is bendix, or will be big chunky 10mm ish lumps, which is bosch.

Last post

You could use copper or cupo-nickel lines, as these would cope with injection pressure no problem. Just don't use semi-rigid plastic lines, as I doubt they would cope with injection pressure.

The only reason the originals are steel is for cheapness.

Its usually a sign that the seals in the turbo have blown and all the oil exits into the air intake and fuels the engine for a runaway, the engine should contain enough oil for about a 30 second run providing the main bearings and associated bits survive

I was taking my 1994 1.9 litre tdi for the mot test. The car has been running like an express train with a pall of black smoke only when the pedal is tramped on, drivenly sedately no smoke.I thought I would give it a blast just before the test and got it running hot, I then pulled in to a quiet spot and got the revs up to the red line, to clear the...

flush the coolant then keep an eye on it. If oil reappears then you may have a problem, a bit of mayo in the 106 isnt uncommon, its just condenstaion inside the cap.

Hi all
Just came across this forum and hopefully you can help. I own a 1995 106 1.1 with 48000 on the clock. It runs fine and seems to be ok but today I noticed a tiny amount of mayonaising on the radiator cap when I removed it. It also appears to have a bit of oil in the coolant however I cannot see any other problems. The oil level is fine and...

Hmm, i recognise that as a boost bypass valve for a Seat Leon, its called an N75, its also used on the audi, VW, and skoda 1.8 turbo petrol engines
Unless your car has a turbo, i cant see what use it would be, it has a small diameter always open bleed airway in it, and can be opened up fully by the solenoid attached to it or simply modulated to...

My old Cit diesel did this, the fuse that controls the light had failed, causing the glow plug relay not to work.
Try that first, think its a 20amp one.

Last post

The glow plug heater light on the dash fails to come on and the car refuses to start, is there a fuse or relay that could have failed? any other ideas to solve this problem (matches, petrol come to mind)
Cheers.

Brake Seal Kit

by a_seebo » 30 Sep 2005, 11:20

Hello everybody,
I wanted to know whether I can get the rubber seal kit for the brake system of my car. Instead of changing the whole calliper, piston or cylinder, I would like to change the rubber seal only before the piston and the cylinder get damaged.
Do you think I can have this?

Hi there,
I've been to look at a 205 Turbo Diesel today which i was told needs rear radius arm bushes. The rest of the car is brilliant.
I've got a practical classics magazine here that tells me i'm looking at a 700quid bill to fix this.
Is this true?

Also are we talking a 405 with the original carb on it?

Hello everybody,
I have a P 106 Equinox of year 1998 1124 cc. I can hear a knocking sound at the steering column and I've noticed that the universal coupling located at the end of the steering column is gone.
I've been told that I'll have to change the whole column. Is it not weird to change the whole thing when there is just a little thing...

There is no 605 Manual, however you can pluck little bits out of the Haynes XM manual, but not a lot.

I may have only just got the car, but I would like to know whats doing what and where! The only thing is, I can't seem to find any workshop manuals. There are parts catalogues on Ebay, but thats not really what I want.
For my MR2 I have the Toyota Mechanics Manual. I was wondering if anyone had anythign similar? Or just something useful!
Thanks.

Overhaul AL4 Gearbox

by Darren Geraldo Duarte » 27 Sep 2005, 12:07

Hi guys,
My sis drives a 307 hatch that uses the AL4 gearbox. After buying it we found out that if the gearbox is spoil they will have to replace it and it cost a bomb. I am sure that gearboxes are repairable and wondering if anyone has a website that i can visit and learn more about the gb.
Thanks

206 Central Locking

by bad driver » 24 Sep 2005, 16:07

is she locking them remotley or key in door?
Maybe she is pressing the wrong button on the plip or is putting key into her bag and the plip is being pressed again by something.
It must be 'unlocking' within 30 seconds of leaving car, after this the alarm would be fully set an would detect a current surge when the doors unlock, therefore triggering...

106 XND problems?

by madasafish » 23 Sep 2005, 18:59

First post

Check the hose running from water pump (rear of engine) to front - offside- there is a junction with a small length of vertical tube and a bleed screw. This often leaks. It's about £40 from Citroen: GSF may be cheaper? If it leaks it will drip where you state. Check expansion tank: they can split .. or one of the many rubber hoses can.
We have had...

I've recently acquired a '93 106 XND with 35k on the clock. I am unsure if the car is losing coolant or whether it is simply finding its own level. I have occasionally found a couple of spots of coolant under the car and at the time appeared to be dripping off the front offside end of the engine where the block and sump meet. The level is slightly...

406 Auto

by bad driver » 23 Sep 2005, 13:32

First post

IIRC the first gear on an auto is slightly longer than that of the manual box so it will feel sluggish in comparison to the manual, yes on a 3.0 v6 it wont feel that way asthat has the power to get through the gear easily. The only thing you can do is look to bring the torque curve into the lower rev range.

Could be a thrust bearing fault.
