306 Driveshafts

Post by pw64k »

Hi,

I need to replace both driveshafts on my 1999 306 1.4, I am having difficulty getting hold of the parts. My car has abs and gsf only sell non abs driveshafts for the 1.4 petrol, I have tried quite a few places but they are asking me how many teeth are on the abs wheel. Not really sure what they are on about, does anyone know where I can get the parts from at a good price and how to find out about the number of teeth.

The ABS wheel is on the outer CV joint, it looks like a bunch of grooves. A picture paints a thousand words..........

Count the number of teeth, and see if this matches with what your parts man has.

In threory, there's only 2 options for the number of teeth, about 90, or about 20. The difference is instantly visible, as the teeth will either be just a couple of mm (like in the photo above) which is bendix, or will be big chunky 10mm ish lumps, which is bosch.
