1993 106 1400 diesel speedo cable

Has anyone done one of these and know anything I need to be aware of. I'm going to replace mine on friday hopefully as the current one has snapped as it goes into the clocks. I was expecting a two piece cable to come from GSF though but it is one long one - is this right??
