Typical as soon as i start to think how many months ive had without any problems something happens [:(]. im not sure if its supposed to do this or it isnt but when travelling in any gear any speed if i ease off the gas and then put it down again the car will start to accelerate then i lose power for a couple of seconds then regain power it will do this no matter what the engine speed is either and its getting really annoying as the whole car jolts forward then back again any ideas ?
Thanks
Ayden

Hi
Is the igntion system in good health? Plugs, leads, igntion timing, dizzy cap & rotor arm?
Hows the air filter & air trunking looking? No air leaks & a nice clean filter?
Exhaust system ok? Is the car over or under fueling?
Also are we talking a 405 with the original carb on it?
The Solex carbs Peugeot fitted at the factory are awful, A Webber conversion kit works wonders on these, Better performance, better fuel mileage & they run a lot better too.

The best thing you can do is to throw away the original and get a Weber conversion kit. This will make the car really go![:)]If its an XU52C engine fitted (twin choke carb)then it should have 92 BHP. A Weber kit will no doubt release some more...Peugeot engines used to comfortably beat their stated horsepower figures on a Dyno anyway[:D]

I think it's got something to do with driving past fields of exploding crop. [:D]
The webber kits are dead easy to fit too. Well worth the hour or so it takes to fit. It's also worth having a look at as many scrapped 405's as you can, as I've found 2 of these webber conversion kits on engines in scrappies. (although I didn't take them off.. I run diesels)
