Revs don’t always drop?

Revs don’t always drop?
I can be driving along and just put clutch in (say for example when you change gear) and the revs just stay the same (they won’t drop down to idle speed). So I can come up to a junction with my foot on the clutch and engine could be constant at 3 thousand revs and then after 30 seconds just decide to go down to normal?! When I start the car it idles fine at 1k? it’s a peugeot 306 sedan 1.8 petrol m reg (95) Any solutions or advice , thanks
Ok going on your other posts, (K-light on also), your ECU has a fault code stored in it, Id say its something idle-control valve related. Get it code read at a local testers. I think, that if your K light (engine diag lamp) is lit, your ECU may have gone into "Limp mode" so dont expect to be passing the emissions test on the MOT (i think).
Hope this helps
Kev.
ps, mine was doing that (without the K-lamp tho.. but not as bad as yours). Cost me £120 inc a diagnostic from a really good peugeot garage (not stealers) local to me. (South wales, swansea.)
