405 non starter

The glow plug heater light on the dash fails to come on and the car refuses to start, is there a fuse or relay that could have failed? any other ideas to solve this problem (matches, petrol come to mind)
Cheers.

My old Cit diesel did this, the fuse that controls the light had failed, causing the glow plug relay not to work.
Try that first, think its a 20amp one.

Are you competent with electrics? You could run a lead direct from the battery positive (a heavy duty one) to the positive feed of the glow plug relay, hold it there for few seconds then try start car. If this works not main glow plug relay.

You need to check a few things to do with the relay unit. There should be a multi-plug, and 2 heavy cables. One of the multi-plug connectors is a feed from the ignition. Bypass this straight from a battery live, and see if the relay clicks. This will tell you a fair bit about whats wrong.
