Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

i think i got 2 lots from the dealership in the last 7 years, but 3 lots from halfords, think they were champion. about to do the plugs again its been 15000 miles and i'm doing everything else for completeness

Hi, I'm new to the forum read lots here and I bought a used and battered lexia to program the keys to my citroen relay van which worked perfectly. I can't see any option to reset the service interval though any ideas?

Also I changed the injectors in the van is there somewhere to program the code for the new injectors?

I tried that but it didn't work this is a 2005 model van. Just found these instructions for the 2007 ducato and they seem to work.

Switch Ign on (do not start engine)
Set Odometer to read total miles.
Press Odometer Button (OB) until CFG1 appears in display
Release the OB.
Pressing the OB briefly will change between CFG1, CFG2, CFG3,...

Hi to you all,just wanted to intoduce myself.
I am new to this forum and have found it very helpfull in the past but this is becoming a pain.
I have a 52 plate C3 Exclusive,which I have had for 6 months and the mirrors have not worked from day one.
Looking at past posts I also believe they also have a folding function(there is a 6 oclock position...

SWMBO (She Who Must Be Obeyed) had three C3s in a row for her driving school. She's now gone to the dark side with a Fiesta but that's another story. :twisted:

She always had trouble with the mirrors and it was always the switch/joystick control affair. It is exceedingly delicate and usually it was rendered useless by a heavy-handed pupil....

I found a nice silver xant v6 on ebay going as spares and repairs, it's a lovely looking car, and looks in good nick, it is however being sold as spares and repairs though a trader.

Driving to work this morning and I had a LWB Merc Sprinter van hit the passenger side of my xsara. It took out both doors, but main area of impact was on the B pillar. So the sill has gone and the roof has slight ripple dents in it. I am surprised the side airbag didn't deploy to be honest.

Hi all,
The blower unit on full is like someone blowing down a drinking straw,useless.
The fan unit works fine and I have checked all pipes for disconnection or blockages and all ok.
I did note that the fan is constantly on slow when the ignition is turned on, is that right?
I am thinking of having the AC re gased but seems pointless as the amount...

That's very interesting but maybe it is just a seal from the blower to the bulkhead. To check it would involve taking off the blower unit which involves taking off half the dash just to get the glove box off.
The air inlet itself is just under the windscreen a 2 square hole and with no grille or mesh so basically any old rubbish could fly down...

nice conversion, I note you have gone down from a heavy diesel engine to probably what is a lighter weight petrol engine so structually your berlingo was pretty bullet proof before you started because she housed a diesel engine.

hi all having a bit of a problem with seal being blown on rad cap the pressure one in middle of cap!.
Results in no pressure in system.as can air hear getting past cap if you squeeze hose.got new one from citroen as others where a bit manky from oil contam after engine change.it only seams to do it after you have given it a bit of...

Any way Fans are all replaced and working.hurrah! had both the rads out and cleaned matrix and flushed water one through.found some cack init ie paper?.had the whole front off.and yes one of the bumper bolt's was seized and in the end pulled it through!.

Hi,
I seem to remember a thread that gave tips on what to look out for when checking a Xantia, I think it covered most things like how to check the suspension, what to look out for, etc...I have tried searching but I can't seem to find the thread....Anyone know where it is? or have I imagined it?

Its common place for springs to snap on modern cars now, puncturing the tyre and often leaving the cars underside touching the road. I can imagine thats more than scary at motorway speeds!

Something you wont get with a hydraulic Citroen, although you might see the strut top pop through the bonnet if your very unlucky :lol:

Hi , just purchased rerplacement air-filter for 2.0 litre turbo , panel filter N12273 Gsf .
What's with the half inch of foam layer on it , Anyone know should it be left on or removed ? any benifits thank's

Unless I'm mistaken I thought the filter with the foam addition was specifically for the V6.

As for High flow airfilters they're unlikely to make any difference to the performance of a Xantia as the standard air filter design has such a large surface area, therefore very little restriction in airflow. By comparison the air filter in SWIMB's...

Hi All

Clutch had played up a little, crunching reverse, so adjusted cable, all was ok for about 6 months then it started crunching again so tried adjusting cable and although it seemed to feel ok still crunched when trying reverse and only just made 1st with a clip, so al always tried a search which reveled lots of interesting reading one in...

The handbrake cabes seem to be different lengths at the adjuster end. Are they differing lengths on each side anyway. The N/S is tight and shortish, but the other is so long that the adjuster yoke was at an angle before I took it off the thredad bar.

Is ther a way to adjust them so they are both the same length or is it (as I suspect) that a...

This rings a bell. I remember, some time ago, thinking that one of my replacement handbrake cables looked too long. It seemed to be correct as per the GSF parts catalogue, however. I don't remember the equaliser being at an angle though.

hii,iv just took the alternator off my 2004 c5 hdi 2l and phones the parts shop up and they want 150 quid including exchange which i think is rather expensive,but also locationg a used 1 seems to be difficult,does anyone know if its the same part as the xantia or xsara,it is the 150amp 1 which makes it more expensive,cheers,andy

I guess the freewheel is there to enable it to disengage when it's not needed to work hard or, maybe so that it does not overspeed at high revs and therefore unnecessarily sap power from the engine; a bit like the old viscous cooling fans...

It does seem a bit OTT, like Dual Mass Flywheels :twisted:

Whilst doing the radius arm bearings on nearside, noticed when idly spinning the hub, that the hub bearings might be sounding a bit dry, though no play, and no rumble (the o/side sounded better).

So removed hub today. The bearings seem fine, but I did find that the grease was extremely thick and in lumps (much thicker than Castrol Heavy). Is it...

Hi All.

I have had someone going close to tears over the price of the bush in the Xantia Activa, active ride ram. 517113 currently selling at about £140!!!

Does anyone (Jim) have one of the offending bushes? As I am sure that I could get these made, I just need a pattern, .

I think that the price would end up being a fraction of the Cit price....

If you have entered the incorrect code 3 times and locked the keypad then its a simple 30 min wait to unlock it - ignition off...

This is a fresh excersie, as a customer locked theres last sunday night, and I advised waiting 30mins, which then unlocked for them to enter the correct code and drive on...

Hi all,
I have had this problem before but it seamed to sort itself out.

There is a wet patch under the front passenger seat, just behind the bar that travels across. I read on here a while ago that it was caused by a blocked leak-off pipe in the sunroof. (Not sure if I remember correctly.)

I have tried to search this subject with no luck. Can...

I got water dripping out from bottom of the car, just wanted to know does anyone have a rough idea as to how long it should take to complete the job?

they usualy give 2.5 hours to do a cam belt, then you have to drop the pump out and once all back together fill and bleed the cooling system

Hi, The front suspension is not keeping the drive height after the engine is stopped. I have noticed this new behavior during last week.
It takes about an hour at the parking area that the gap on top of the front wheel lowers to minimum.

* Hydraulic pump is ticking interval (1 min) seems to be OK.
* LHM fluid level is OK and no visible leaks...

I've had a remap done for my C5 HDi 110. I decided that I'd like to be able to swap back to the original map if needed so I bought the lead to enable me to do this. This allowed me to download the original map off the car and email it off to be modified. I uploaded the modified map back to the car using the same process. In total it...

Trying to take off the rear door from the LX to swap with Cassy's dented one.
The BoL is living up to it's name, it says to unclip the wiring loom in the door and slip it out through the front of the door.
No problem you think.
What about the wires that go to the actual lock?
Do I have to take out the innards of the door to get to them or is there...

How does the Rear Brightwork come out of the rear bumpers..??

Its a shame to waste it when I need some for my V6, the bumper is cracked but the chrome is in OKish order.. Do I really need to take the bumper off to get it out?

I have it set to on for both the Xsara and C5.

I notice it when I come to a halt at traffic lights after a run at speed when I can hear volume going down.

I can't, in all honesty, say I've noticed the volume increase with an increase with speed but that is probably because the response (changing volume) trails the speed.

Hi same as pug one.bit of a faff to do get new jubilee clip for bottom end atleast plus if you have or buy/aquire one of those long flexible screwdriver like things with a socket end.or if not a good 1/4 drive socket set with wobbly drive.and a long handled screwdriver wide as poss.i used a franklin headgasket scraper to prize pipe off filler...

Haynes says that the glass is bonded onto the headlamps. Is there any way of getting the glass off?

I have had to change headlights to French but I want to retain the bodies of the UK lamps, which have very much brighter 'chrome' than the high-usage french ones.

it is only failiures that have to be rectifyed before they will issue an new MOT,

the advisorys can astill need fixing at the next MOT a year later, but if they have not deterierated any/much more they could still only be added to another advisory sheet...

No, I doubt you can fix the bearing. The part is not that dear from GSF (www.gsfcarparts.com) - about 25 GBP if I remember correctly. They do an export service - this shouldn't cost too much as it's not that heavy.

Is it possible to buy a replacement 3 point belt for the middle rear seat and remove the lap strap?
I think I'm right it saying the estate has 3 point belts but they dont fit the hatchback Xantia.

I will need them when my children get a bit bigger. Got 3 child seats across the back now. A baby seat will fit well on the lap strap in the middle but...

Problem: Temperature rises gradually if I drive more than 50 KM distance continuously.

Action Taken So far:
1. Change the coolant expansion tank cap to avoid any coolant leak while coolant very hot with great pressure.

I have problems with my front drivers side light, rear passenger stop/tail,rear passenger reg plate and rear drivers driving light on boot lid.
All the bulbs have been checked so all bulbs are working. Not really had any electrical problems before now, what's the next step?

Quick question. I'm toying with the idea of getting a MkII Xsara HDi, around the 02 kind of age, aiming from SX spec. I've seen a couple, and I'd just like to have a sanity check about the wheels on the SX. All the later ones I have seen (post '02) are fitted with these alloys:

Yes I noticed that the majority of the 02 onwards HDi 110 sx had the ones in your top picture (called Everest) and most of the petrol sx's had the ones in your bottom picture (called Vesuve). They are both the same size and I am fairly sure that they are interchangable.

You could obtain a set from ebay as they appear on their from time to time....

Citroen say the flywheels are designed to
filter out acyclic engine movements of the engine suddenly accelerating & decellerating at the start & end of the power strokes by using the stored energy of the flywheel. They reckon this in turn puts less stress on the timing belt therefore extending its life.
Citroen however don't tell you that the DMF...
