C5 Wiper Issue??

Post by corsehf »

Hi

First real issue with the car and a strange one!!
Got into the car this morning and just flicked the wiper to do one sweep to remove the dew on the screen but the wipers continued and continued and continued, i had to keep adding water to stop them wearing out.
Pulled over into a layby, turned the car off - removed the keys from the ignition - locked the car and the wipers were still going!!!!
The only way the wipers would stop was by disconnecting the battery!!!!
Reconnected the battery, tried the wipers and again they just stayed on.

Any ideas of what would cause this or is it something to do with the BSi / Battery Reset (separate thread) for this car??

Sounds like maybe a dodgy wiper stalk connnection, i think they are a common failure point in various ways, not sure if you can repair them you may have to get a new stalk from a scrappy or factors

What about a faulty/dirty rain sensor at the top of the screen ?

Screen is clean.
have tried the BSi reset as supplied by Clogzz (separate thread) and the wipers have stopped and are now operating as they should on the button but i'm not pushing my luck just yet.
