Welding the engine sub frame/chassis leg on ZX

Post by C.J. »

Just how long should this take?
Whilst I appreciate after seeing the rot now, that it involves removing the brake pipes and carpet from inside, I've been quoted between 2 and 4 hours and approx £100+!

I'm wavering on scrapping the car now tbh., as it needs a wheel bearing too.
Such a shame, as it looks so tidy too.

It may not pass the MOT if welded.

My son had to have a new (second hand) subframe in his 306 last year as the subframe was corroded and they wouldn't weld it or accept it back welded as it is a critical component.

A gang of tame mechanics bought a replacement from a scrapyard and fitted it along with brake hoses, front dampers new brake discs & pads plus assorted odds and sods for a little over £300.
