Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

I have a whirring noise at 1500 rpm up
Coming from the belt area
It's most noticeable in first and second gear accelerating
And decelerating
Although I can rev the engine in neutral and get the same sound although the revs have to be
Slightly higher
I've changed the tensioner, alternator pulley and belt

Need to change the nearside (passenger) driveshaft this weekend (if GSF can get their act together and get one in for me :roll: )
I haven't got a Haynes for the car yet, so just checking what needs to be undone to get enough clearance to slide the shaft out of the hub.

As the window closed and engaged with the recesses of the door, I heard a loud compressed cracking/shattering sound I would associate with car glass breaking (but the visible portion of the glass remained fully intact). If this car has a ZF 4HP20 then it is possible the 'time bomb' is getting ready to go off and it is on the verge of dying with a plugged oil filter and decomposing torque converter.... 200000Km (160,000 miles) is about the time it can start...

The Navidrive system of my 58 plate C5 tourer has failed. All functions on the screen are off and it doesn't respond to anything. I have tried the reboot by holding the dark button for 10 secs to no avail.
Could it be just a fuse or loose connection or is it looking like something more serious?

So i've just picked up an 09 C5 Exclusive and the handbook alludes to it having Bluetooth for the phone. If i press the wheel button for the phone the info display says no mobile connected . Is this a red herring because I can't for the life of me get my phone to find citroen to pair it with the vehicle, does this mean its not Bluetooth equipped...

Hi Folks,

I'm sorry to bother you all but does anyone know if the windscreen washer bottle on a 2002 Citroen C5 is available anywhere other than from Citroen as I'm struggling to find one in GSF or Eurocar Parts... if not is the bottle used in any other Citroen model as up here C5's in breakers yards are like hens teeth.

Hope someone can help
I have just bought a 2005 MK2 C5 2.0 VTR petrol.
When I went to collect it the battery was flat so they used a jump pack and it eventually started after 20 seconds of cranking they told me it had been standing for 6 months.
My problem is the car cranks over but wont start unless I leave the ignition on for approx 20 seconds...

Hello,
So I have a Citroen Xantia 1996 1.9 SD diesiel. The problem is that the engine starts badly:
It‘s not the ignition, as the engine „starts up“ fast. But the rpm is very low and it seems like a few cilinders are not working as they should, because the engine does this psch psch psch sound and shakes and vibrates a lot, the whole car starts...

Welcome to the forum :-D

White/grey smoke on startup is indicative of unburned fuel and definitely not a lack of it! That it starts OK might rule out the classic cause which is duff glowplugs but I would check that all the glowplugs are good and functional as a first step. If you have no record of them being changed then change them for good new...

Hi Gents,

Got it running after an age. Put in new glow plugs but it still seems to struggle.
Once it does start there's White smoke coming out the exhaust and a bit from the engine bay.
Any ideas? It's not using any water.

I'm having trouble with air in my diesel system again and I can't get to the bottom of it. It's a 1995 citroen synergie with the 1.9td lump in it. I'll take you through what's happening and what I've done already.
Yesterday we rebuilt the rear brakes as I'm having some issues in that department, we finished up and my dad decided to go speeding up...

Hi lads,
need some advice my c5's suspension is absolutely terrible i can feel absolutely every little bump on the road i had wheels balanced aswell as if i go over 70 the wheels feel like they are going to fall off its getting scary any advice very welcome

Good you have made some progress, sounds like a combination of things. Tyres make more difference to ride and handling than pretty well anything else. You should have a better ride with those taller tyres.

I've got the cambelt off my 2008 2.0 hdi 136 and want to replace the camshaft oil seal. I have the flywheel and camshaft pinned and the belt off. How do I replace the camshaft oil seal?

If I remove the fuse for the wipers and replace it the wipers will start working and as long as the engine is running the wipers will operate fine. When I switch the engine off and leave the car for 10 min the wipers will stop...

Thanks for the replys. do believe the master wiper is on the driver side. It's the master and passenger side is the slave. I am hoping this will be it cured when I get it changed. I can't complain at the price either as its a brand new valeo motor for £130

hi newbie here

my son has a 2.0 hdi xsara picasso...reg... HN51 HBL....he recently changed the lift pump after the original failed....he switches the ignition on and off 6 times to prime the system...there are no visible fuel leaks and the seal on the fuel filter has been replaced..the car engine starts first time everytime but only runs for 40...

Can anyone help.
I am trying to find a gear selector cable part no. 2444y4. Apparently citroen have stopped supplying them. They only have a replacement with a modification, coming in at £200 (OUCH). My old C5 cannot warrant that expenditure. I have tried a breakers, they sent whole unit which was wrong, despite assuring me that it was for a be4r...

For a while my AC has been switching on after restarting the car (the one with the light on in the image):

More recently the clock display started to randomly not come on and now it never comes on any more (light and LCD):

At the same time the parking sensors started to beep continually when in reverse.

Now that the clock is failing the...

I replaced the battery and did a BSI reset but nothing has changed... saying that, I don't think the parking sensors have complained since then.

My EPS light kept coming on and the Lexia said there was a problem with the steering wheel position sensor.

To fix this my local Citroen guy has replaced the comms unit but says that I need to go back to have it calibrated.

I have a Lexia so is calibrating the coms unit easy or is it something best left to the mechanic.

I have just never heard of a steering rack problem causing the steering wheel to be able to turn further to the right than the left (a good half a turn extra).

if a rack is not set up correctly on fitting this can happen apparently,or someone has adjusted tracking at one side only,

a lot of tyre shops do this, when you are meant to adjust both...

2003 Citroen C8 HDi 2.0

My transmission slips between first and second, especially when it is hot. I just had my car at an auto transmission specialists that said my tranny isn't registering any slip faults but if it was then they would only replace the transmission rather than repairing it.

What the heck, are there no mechanics left? Seems like...

Where is air intake temperature sensor placed on the 2.2 hdi, 2001 year?
Lexia shows 28 degrees intake temp., but outside temp is 10 degrees Celsius grade.

Mike, the alarm can be reset by holding down the ultrasonic disable (crossed - out speaker) button whilst turning on the ignition...

It only needs doing once but will need to be done every time the battery is disconnected and reconnected.

Totally forgotten now how to re synch an S1 pip :oops:

Hi,

I am wanting to add an external temperature sensor to a Citroen Berlingo HDi 2008. The van does not have any provisions for this feature so I'll have to modify the mirror unit to add the sensor.

I then presume that the dashboard display will need to be changed in order to accept an input from the temperature sensor - is this correct?

I need to change the front pads on my 98 Xantia 1.8 8v

According to the manual I just pull the split pin out of the lower retaining pin, extract the pin and then rotate the caliper about it's top mounting bolt.

My problem is even after the split pins are removed I cannot get either retaining pin to budge, they are seized solid.

Good news I think I've solved my plip broblem, once sorted I will post the solution at very little cost....

Bad news is rear wipe is not working so checked fuse but it's NOT there !!!! two hand books one french & one english both say fuse 22 but there is no connections for the fuse to fit anyone with any ideas ....... Please

I saw this 02 plate C5 2.0 hdi auto (ebay 201295243226) and was tempted but the box drops to 3rd in limp mode occasionally. Could this be a knackered box or maybe just an oil change or similar? The price looks good and the car looks quite tidy as well.

Had that with my 4 cylinder petrol C5, and it was the AL4 box needing an oil change.
It behaved on the flat, but went to limp mode when going uphill.
Changing the oil fixed it very well.

Probably not a new topic but my car has just failed the MOT. 02 emissions too high, everything else good

Fast idle was 1.10% max .30%

Second fast idle was 0.59% max .30%

Natural idle test 0.48% max .50%

just 02 emissions, everything els was a pass

Well, it went for it's retest this afternoon after new plugs, filters and lambda sensor, and we have a pass.

The computer said further conditioning needed
Second fast idle CO 0.09%
Weird thing, on the second fast idle it was hovering around 31-33% then suddenly shot down to 0.09%
Natural idle down to 23% CO

If it is just a solenoid and doesn't have any position feedback to the ECU I don't see any reason that a resistor and if necessary an inductor (though I doubt that would be needed) to match the characteristics of the solenoid couldn't be used.
