Old Citroen warranty news story

Unread post by wurlycorner »

Happened on this earlier, completely by accident.

Citroën warranty worthless, despite failed brake pads, clutch and engine | Money | The Guardian
https://www.theguardian.com/money/2011/ ... -worthless

Wow! That was some s**t treatment...
Does anyone know how that ended up?
:-k does his surname ring a bell from the Citroen car club?

Nb: the whole oil change/not oil change thing... That's not unusual for the dealer to behave like that with modern cars ime. I think I've mentioned before on here, my friend who ran company mundano's for years, always had them serviced at Ford dealers when due and at the 'intermediate' service (10/12k ish) always had to push them to get the oil changed, otherwise they wouldn't!

I can confirm that Citroen have terrible customer service (not the dealers, they do try their best.)

Good stuff.

Nb: I was a bit surprised at the cost of the recon engine from an independent?

I've had every single thing covered without quibble under Citroen extended warranty on my X7. Obviously wear and tear components are not included, but I have to say, steering rack, suspension pipes, windscreen motors, window motor/ regulator, crankshaft seal, A/C compressor, A/C Condensor, front & rear height correctors have all been done on mine. So I personally can't complain and would take out a similar warranty again without a doubt if needed.

I'm wondering if in that article the £70 'service' was actually confused with the paint / anti corrosion warranty, that requires periodic inspection - I had mine done and that charge is about right. I suspect that is what is was for - but that the first service was missed.

Marc, your new profile pic (profile GIF?) reminds me of a System Of A Down album cover... It's also unnervingly creepy to watch for more than a few seconds yet too captivating to look away somehow :?

:rofl2: I must admit I had to Google ‘System Of A Down’ - ‘Armenian-American heavy metal band from Glendale’

Never heard of them until now, but not associated in any way :)

A friend of mine bought a car from a citroen dealer and the clutch went within 2000 miles and they refused to pay.
