correct oil

When I bought my Dispatch 1.6, the garage told me to use 5w/40 fully synthetic oil, is this correct? just it seems a bit tappetty on first pull away when cold. 86000 miles.

TOTAL Quartz Ineo ECS 5w30 Fully Synthetic is the stuff you need
