Here goes:-
Well! This council has been using up its spare money to do patch repairs on our road.
I was going to swap the remaining strut mount out on Sunday but decided to try and see what was causing the front to remain seemingly high.
Put the car on HIGH, jacked it up, put an axle stand more towards the offside if the front subframe. All good.
Sprayed up the front height corrector pins with PlusGas and let it soak in a bit.
Then put the suspension on LOW. Did a bit more spraying. Decided not to go under the car to look for the pivot pins. Just used a head torch and lay under the offside.
Start to jack the front back up to remove the axle stand and the car started to move sideways to the nearside!
And this is why…
Anyway. All good I went to turn the car on. It started but stopped immediately. It had been doing this for a while before but I’d assumed it was an air leak and decided not to bother investigating further until it got worse.
Moved the car onto a neighbour’s drive for the duration of the works. I then noticed switching it up and down that the glow plug light was sometimes on and sometimes off.
Waggled the key a bit and all was good.
So there’s a job for me when I get the time. I guess it’s either a worn barrel or an issue with the relay. Jim kindly did ‘the conversion’ for me some years ago now.
