Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

that depends on were you are as i have a second hand one to use for test purposes if you are close to east sussex,

or you could buy 4 flasher caps which are yellow plug caps with a spark gap inside, so you fit all 4 then fit the coil pack back in place and start the engine,

My 1993 309 has the manual sliding sunroof with vacuum operated seal. Rainwater is getting in somewhere in the area of the sunroof. The main seal looks fine and I've already replaced the sealing washers on the handle. The two drain holes at the front of the frame look clear. Theres also one at the back corner of the frame on the passenger side....

I have a Peugeot 307 (52 plate), and I think the battery is on its last legs.

Question is how do I get the battery enclosure off in order to get at the battery.

I can remove the battery cables, and think the enclosure is just clipped at the bottom, however it does not seem to want to come up over the battery

Well as the title says, it's 6AM and the alarm on my son's Peugeot 206 has just got me up again, (well he's 18 and wont here anything untill mid day)

And all this on a morning when I was looking forward to grabbing the extra hour granted in bed, I was up for a call out at 2.30 and back in bed at 4pm so the hour would have been welcomed.

Is it wise with a Peugeot 306 1.4, the multi-point injection variant? It's just I've added a little to the fuel to no effect, then tried putting some in via the intake and got no noticable effect (didn't seem to want to suck the stuff in). Yes, a diagnosis using the pukka diagnostic tool will determine it in an instant. A Peugeot DIAG200 is the best but a Citroen Lexia will do at a pinch as long as you tell it you are diagnosing a Xantia with the DHX Engine and VP20 pump.

all, what do you know / think of them?

I have always thought they looked pretty, but i guess being a 406 underneath has advantages and disadvantages... ?

Great engine, nice looks, lots of toys.. no hydraulics :(

worth a buy cheap or avoid with a bargepole?

Seems in a few months / years large engines will be a luxury of the past...

I have a T reg 206, I have a problem, usually when idling at lights etc. sometimes the revs shoot up to about 3000rpm and sometimes they drop right off and the engine stalls. This will happen for a couple of days and then not occur for two or three weeks. Has anyone got any ideas, I would be most grateful

as per the title, the illumination for the climate control nobs/buttons/display are hors de combat. Particularly the back light for the display although some of the buttons light up ok.

The ABS ring on my 306 has broken. It is beyond repair glue wise so I have a new pattern replacement drive shaft. The issue is the origingal abs band has squares cut out of a circular peice of material . The replacement is the toothed variety like a cog.

I do not know for sure the new one will work. It has the same number of teeth and is cross...

That is whyI hope it will fit. It seems there is some flexibility here since currenlty I have a washer in place on the sensor creating a slightly bigger gap to allow for the warped abs band. Thing is a tooth is missing and it fools the sensor into thinking the wheel is turning slower.

Hi all, as the title says i need to find out how to remove the ignition barrel from my (now dead) 306 Dturbo, every one i've removed on any other car had to have the key in position one and a pin pushed in to release it then, just slide it out but, i cant seem to work this one out.

An easy question for you

I need to remove the steering wheel on my 307 year 2003. I'm trying to get to the indicator stalk to fix it.

There is a large security screw / bolt that holds the steering wheel on to the centre steering couloumb

Hi all.

not sure if I have posted about this before so apologies...

Dads 306 broke recently..

From memory it was recovered home and wouldn't start...
It went to a garage who did some tests and suggested that low turbo pressure and some fault with the EGR were to blame.. they either disconnected or cleaned the EGR. seemed better but no real...

Ok, so I took out the old cassette deck to replace it with a second hand Panasonic CD player that I got. The existing headunit seems to have had steering column controls added at some point. It didn't come this way from the factory I don't think, as the hole for the stalk looks home made.

My wife's power steering has gone rather stiff (intermittently) on her 2000 306 Estate. I was just wondering if this is a common problem and is it likely to be dry sticking joints? (no leaks and fluid level is OK!)

I have just had my Depollution systm faulty reset.

The error codes that were there are

P0121 Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch A Circuit Range/Performance Problem
P0123 Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch A Circuit High Input
P0413 Secondary Air Injection System Switching Valve A Circuit Open
P1158 Lack of HO2S 22 switching - Sensor...

I would start at the secondary air solenoid I also doubt the tow bar would have caused any problems if it was fitted by a fitter.

one thing to remember is the 407 uses the same engine as the Citroen so you could look for the equivalent by joining the service site

no need to put any personal information just answer A or something to that...

if you mean for a 307 as your title says 397, it dose realy depend on your pocket, as there are various qualities of battery, varying in warenty period,

try GSF as i find there prices are usualy very competative, and they will tell you the correct battery for your car, and give you varying prices dependding on qualitie

the starter brushes are in the starter motor,

and yes yo cann check the negative battery lead, follow the thick cable from the neg (minnus) battery terminal t the gear box, even if its tight loosen it give it a wiggle and re/tighten it

I am toying with the idea of getting a 2.1 406 estate as a second car to my XM, the problem is I find the seats uncomfortable, they are very short compared with the XM ones and even the later Peugeot ones, does anyone know if there are more comfortable seats that can be fitted. possibly from a later Peugeot?

This seems to be a common MOT failure item, and having just bought one, its obvious that its different to a standard lower balljoint. How is it fitted? Looking at the balljoint, theres nothing to stop it 'popping off' so presumably, the joint is fitted to a swivel?

Hi all,
I am thinking of getting a 306 TD. I would like to run this car on veg as I do my 95 Xantia 1.9 TD. I understand the Xantia is running OK because I have a Bosch fuel pump.
Is this the case with the 306? I think they use the same engine.
What else should I be considering?

Hi,

While changing the lower ball joints on my 407, aswell as the drop lin bars, and now I need to change the track rod ends, a load of gearbox oil came out. I obviuosly need to top it up.

What oil do I use, and where do I top it up?

It is a 2.2 SE manual.

Also does anyone know where I can get some polythurane bushes for the suspension....

if you were 1 or 2lt's short/low it would make a big diferance, because when you put gear oil in, it fills the box up first to the level/ledge, then overfills into the diff,

so after pulling 1 or both drive shafts out you empty the diff,

just putting out some feelers firstly,

if i had a pug dealers DIAG 2000 for sale, maybe around the 3 to 4 hundred squide mark possibly, is there any one on here that might be interested in buying it from me,

this is the pug equivalent to the CITROEN LEXIA 2, it will have some leads one beeing the 30 pin needed for slightly earlyer pugs, but up...

I recently tried and failed to replace the leaking top on my lucas pump.After replacement the car would start and run then stop,same thing happened when I put the old top back on,resulting in me having to go and source a non turbo lucas pump which cured it and is now running fine.
I just wondered if anyone knows where I went wrong in the pump top...

I've done several of these in the past. I've never replaced the top itself, just all the seals to stop them weeping diesel.

They're a damm sight easier to overhaul than a Bosch pump!

I've never had a problem although you have to be careful to keep the fast idle/anti-stall mechanism in the right orientation. It can go back two ways and it is not...

It will probably be like the mk1 saxos, you either need to buy the plip & reciever as a pair or buy it pre programed to the 5 digit code on the reciever or plip, you cant buy the plips blank & program them.
To check if there is an output from the plip point it at a digital camera & press the button & you should see light being emitted from it.

I jacked the car up and could feel side to side play in this wheel. I have since been under the rack and noticed leaking of fluid too, so think I may aswell just replace the whole rack and be done with it.

The fuel gauge on my 205 wont work.
Iv had trouble with it before ie somtimes it would work and somtimes not.
Iv removed the rear seats and checked the conections underneath*was advised to do this* cleaned them and all apeard to be ok.

Does anyone know the procedure for changing the cam belt on a 306 non turbo diesel.The plastic cover has been removed, I just want to know about what position the various pulleys should be in during the fitment of the belt.

Good explanation that. With all the locking pins and holes you can't go too wrong really. Just don't leave one of your locking pins in and start the car, as I did once :oops:

My better half has a 306 1.9td xud. I took it out for a drive the other day, and it feels significantly slower then the 1.9td I used to have, and the boost doesn't seem to kick in until 3000 to 3250 rpm....which is a lot higher than my old 306's 2500 rev boost threshold.

The engine doesn't blow smoke and it has just passed the mot and the guy...

Previous problem history: none perfect runner

Driven through a puddle (same place repeatedly for years without incident)

firstly i would check and clean/dry out all plug conectors for the ignition circuite, also if it has a distributor cap remove it from the distributor clean and dry it inside and out,

just do one thing at a time,

do not remove all the spark plug leads together, just take one of at a time clean and re/fit and so on till you...

I have just tried to unscrew the upper engine mount on my 306 in order to change it.

The trouble is it is totally stuck in.

I have tried turning the upper threads with a bolt removal tool, but the upper and lower threads are not connected and I just end up twisting the rubber. I have also tried tapping a groove in the metal and hammering it...
