Front headlamps problem

Post by Welshy_Pete »

My front headlamp on the driver side wasn't working properly so I cleaned the connections up and it worked ok after that.

But then today the full beam sticks on the passenger side and the driver side only goes on side light.

So not sure if its a fuse or some thing.

Sounds like it could be those and the connections as well. I will check all those and clean them all up also.

Don't know what car you have but I had the n/s dip fail on my 406 and it turned out to be a wiring loom fault so I fitted a relay and triggered it from the other headlight.

Hello a few weeks back the bulb went of. So I cleaned the connections up and it worked again. But this time it's stuck on full beam with the driver side not working.

It could be a wiring loom fault or earth.

I put on the its a 306 peugeot now.

I had a look at the 3 connections on the h4 bulb. The connector on the brown wire the metal part was dirty. So I cleaned the hole connector up and the other side to.

The full beam goes on and of now like normal. But need to change the bulb as it must of blown the bulb I will swap the bulb around to see.

Check any earth wires you see near the light too, ie on the inner wing area.

Bulbs can fail oddly ie short across the filaments although this is not that common. A dodgy earth can give very odd effects though as you've noted. :) , such as running across the dip and full beam without an earth etc.
