Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

The C5 X7 I bought last week came with two keys and I gave one of them to my non-driver wife. At first her key worked to remotely unlock the car but packed up a couple of days ago and won't start the car either. Assuming its battery's died, would that also stop it deactivating the immobiliser or does it have a passive transponder for that?

I'm looking to replace my fan/aux/alternator belt. I've done a few before on the XUD/TUD but I'm a bit stumped with this one.

On my TUD I had a metal rod that was tightened with allen keys. On my XUD the tensioner moved freely with a bit of leverage. This DW8 one doesn't seem to have either.

Could anyone point me towards a way to slacken off the...

looks like you have to slacken bolt 77 then either loosen or tighten the nut at the top of the rod at number 8 to loosen/tension the belt.

My 1995 td wont start without much cranking and foot to the floor. Usually starts first turn so ... air? I've changed leak off pipes, no go. Next on the list is fuel filter housing (replace) and pipe to primer bulb (replace wuth clear and new priming bulb ). Fitted this new (well, refurb) and it looks slightly out of line.

I could put washers on the bolts to space it out, but that doesn't seem a good idea.

Any other options?

All sorted. Garage said the pulley wasn't knocked in right, so he's done that and it seems right now.

Making a bit of a groaning noise when stationary, will have to check it'd bled/topped up.

What infernal device is it exactly that makes the gearlever awkward to get out of 'park'?! Noticed it over the last few weeks - some days its worse than others. I'm assuming its a mechanical lock that's sticking - easy or nightmare fix?! :lol:

Have done first oil change on, the new to me Citroen C5 2008 x7. Alarmingly found that the undertray had only 3 bolts holding it on, so ordered a full set, which arrived today with a variety of bolts, clips and fixings. However have no diagram as to what bolts go where. Has anyone a diagram they might share or even a written description.

Recommendations for something that will remove fine wiper scratches from the windscreen. My ZX is now 22 years old - all but three days - and I've finally got tired of looking through the glare of oncoming traffic at night! I've heard Jeweller's Rouge is good for this; has anyone tried it?

I have the 2011 e-hdi 1.6 egs6 c5 x7 and would like to try a c5 x7 2lt hdi auto . I have seen a nice 2008 2ltr hdi auto exclusive with 40k on the clock with a full service sheet ( as mine has ). I want the exclusive because it has the fluid suspension ( mine has the steel springs ).

My problem is that my heater fan just stopped working. It might be the resistor pack or just loose or burnt wires, but I cant get to it as I can remove the glovebox. This seems like an odd fault. I'm guessing the blower control module is actually a PWM MOSFET module that takes a reading from the front panel air conditioning controls. If the new one isn't working then it suggests that it may not be receiving the correct signal to set the fan speed with.

Has anyone tried to fit LED build in their headlights. I was thinking about fitting these but I would have to adapt the back cover of the headlight to allow the heat sync to protrude out the housing.

Osram nightbreaker are the way to go,
Now, having fitted a pair of these to my xantia
I can tell you that whilst they are Bright they have a very defined beam pattern and shut off point unlike Normal bulbs, they dont fade out, resulting in lamps needing to be adjusted to suit the coverage area, i am goung to run a relay on the bulbs to make sure...

Mornin' all,

This might seem like a stupid question but I've searched the forum using (LHM+), (LHM Plus), (LHM++) and (LHM+Plus) and it only comes up with threads with LHM (or which there are many) or some posts with Plus in also but nothing with LHM+ so I cannot find if this question has ever been asked but I'm pretty sure it will have been....

LHM+ has been around for absolutely yonks (I mean like over a decade at leasr, surely?)
Have used the Morris stuff also and its fine.

Ref all LHM being made by total... Not sure that is correct? When halfords sold own brand LHM (dunno if they still do) it always looked much more translucent ('thinner') than the proper total stuff.

I'm looking at som new used 7 wide rims. (from an Ford Sierra)
How deep offset will fit without clearance issues?
According to 7Jx17 ET25 are standard. How about ET38 on 7Jx16 ?
Would I need space plates? How thick? And longer bolts to?

I had 18 alloys on my 07 plate c5 2.0hdi. If I remember they were et 40, I had 20mm hubcentric spacers fitted with an extended stud conversion which made the fitting much easier. There was absolutely no problems with the fitting with this set up.

Possibly at the lever end of things - but the cables should never need adjusting once fitted. If it's gone out of adjustment, then the mech in the drums (or calipers if it's got rear discs) is most likely at fault.

Rather than replace the whole (broken!) corrugated pipe on my '09's rear washer, I looked for a simpler way of doing it....and found one! :) I bought one of these

Hi all, I am sure I have encountered this in the past, the front end of my 99 Xantia rises when the car is on full lock,it drops slowly back to normal once straightened up and behaves normally when doing citaerobics, I lubricate height correctors every year though it is due some fresh LHM .

Hi Gents
2010 c5 x7 THP 1.6 156 PS 6speed. 90K KM .My car was working ok, 95%. Of the time the cold start small rattle will be present, so i decided to go ahead and replace the timing chain tensioner in hopes that the rattle will quiete down a bit.Simple process!
To my surprise after installing the tensioner, my car wont start.. cranks fine just...

Well I've today bought the 58 reg C5 2.0i 16v auto that I mentioned in another thread. Should I be putting bog standard unleaded in it or the super 98 octane stuff? I'm only really concerned about fuel economy, not performance.

Does anybody know the dimension of oil seal on steering rack? Not the gaitor used from XM (shown in the picture) but the one that prevents oil leakage from cylinder that is arrow pointed (like driveshaft seals...).

Mine is weeping and I would like to change it.

Well i guess if I puncture a few holes on the bottom it will be ok...

Note that the bushes on the ram housing are the same as in activa rams. While changing the rams I changed also the bushes. Had in stock those nylon made! :-D

Well, today I decided to get stuck in to the broken high-level brake light wire on my '09 Tourer. Armed with Lenny's 'how to' measurements, I cut the 2 holes in the plastic trim to allow access to the hidden screws that hold the spoiler on - easily done, and lo and behold, there they were the little *******s! :-D I'd borrowed a mate's Snap-on...

Yes that's what I did, even after clean up.it wasn't reliable so soldered a lead directly to PCB, plenty of space, drilled small hole for lead and sealed with gloop, ran lead a long way back to bypass a connector or two.

Have any of you successfully replaced the outer shell on a 3 button key fob like the one in the pic. I have 2 with my new Picasso, both are worn. I see loads on the usual internet places for sale. I wondered if any of you have done it and can recommended a particular replacment or supplier...

My Power Steering pump pulley is doing a bit of jiggling and making an unpleasant noise while running, so looks like I'll need a new one.

They ain't cheap.

I have a donor XUD 1.9TD, are the pumps interchangeable between these two engines?

I'm dumping the xantias, and getting a C5.

What should I look out for? I'm thinking a 2008-2010 model with a 2.0 HDi engine, and preferably the non spring version.

There is a chance that I might get offered a C6, but I'm worried about parts/maintenance.

Hi all,

MY C5 (2008) Exclusive sat on the drive for just over 7 weeks. Took it out today and FL TPMS showed up as a fault. Could it be the batteries in the TMPS on the wheel itself?

Yes it is. The TPMS systems are surprisingly accurate and have actually caught a lot of people out when the tyres 'looked' ok, but on checking the PSI was under the recommended pressures. A few PSI can do it - so do check with a gauge.

Hi all,
I've been thinking of adding power steering to my little c15 van. Its the non power steering model and as I'm not He-Man, Arnold Schwarzenegger or The Incredible Hulk I'm getting tired of the muscle power required to steer it. Anyone got an idea how difficult this would be? Any info at all would be great.

Yes they are the same people Lexi. I think they are now part of the Freeborne group now that includes Citroen franchised dealers. They are located in Ocean Village Southampton, but now have several branches around the UK. They used to be based in Cowes, Isle of Wight.

A great many miles ago I had a leaky oil cooler. Long since fixed, three coolant flushes and a thermostat later that seems to be behind me.

Except for my blowers, they're just not very warm at all.

Engine temperatures fine - 85 degrees most of the time, 90+ at idle before the fan kicks in.

Interestingly they're... acceptable... while driving,...

Should j be able to hear the parking brake motor when it is applied?
There is a slight shudder when I lift my foot off accelerator is this normal?
What should be under the carpet in the boot?

Hi,
I have only had my used C5 (X7) for two weeks and have a suspicion there is something odd with the electrical system, but I could be wrong.

The symptoms:

Auto lights sometimes stay on (green lights on dash on, when the two orange lights in the roof go off) after driving out of tunnels. Sometimes both go off together.

Horn was not sounding...

UPdate - the horn issue was a faulty horn which has now been replaced, the guys at the garage didn't specify the exact fault when I asked so I believe it may have been corroded contacts on the horn rather than a faulty wire.

I would like to ask for your advise on how to remove the cover between the front seats on the C5 II (2007 petrol), the cover that encloses the gear selector , the handbrake, the switch to raise and lower the vehicle an so on.

I think that there should be 2 10mm nuts under the rear ashtray as Sam has described. The ideal removal tool would be a 10mm socket on a long extension bar, as long as the cover is deep. To avoid loss of the nuts when they are undone try putting some kitchen roll on the nut before putting the socket onto it, that will keep the nut in the socket....

Hi All,

I was thinking of obtaining steel rims for winter tyres and fitting to my C5 x 7.

But found that there are only 16 rims available where as I have 17 alloys fitted at the moment.

Tyres on 16 are 205/55/16 and on 17 225/55/17.

My spare is a 17 steel retail from citroen £97 each where as 16 are £49 each.

Thoughts please.
