Remote boot opening on C5 X7 Tourer

Post by mypinknee »

I was wondering if anyone else had the same problem with the boot not always opening or closing with electrical assistance. Either via the remote (to open) or by pressing the button on the boot itself (to close it). Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. The car is now ten years old, but it has always done this fairly randomly from new. I imagine it is to do with the state of the battery, but sometimes it won't open with assistance even after a drive. As the boot lid is very heavy I am finding it more and more difficult to manage. All advice gratefully received.

The most common problem is indeed battery, of more specifically the economy mode kicking in which prevents it working.

I posted a fix for this in the Resources Section for members who have made a current Forum donation:

https://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/ ... 24#p584224

That’s assuming of course it isn’t a break in the wiring loom where it enters the top rear left side of the tailgate.
, or another fault.

I don't have access to a diagbox, so I don't think I can do that. :)

Try contacting a member of the Forum with a Kit near you:

At the end of the list is a link to a Google Map, showing the members' geographic locations and details. Just use the Private Message or Email links on the member's profile to contact anyone suitable.
