new battery c5

Post by xf1ref »

Hi all,
does anybody know if I can declare new values for battery with diagbox? I have only 3 values: 60,70 and 75Ah and I'm restricted to choose a new battery.
I know that I have to declare the Ah value accordingly to the value of the new battery but I didn't find where.

That picture is so small we can't see any detail and it won't zoom.

The recommended for your car (163) is 720A (Cold Cranking Amps) and 70AH (Amps / Hour), so select 70. The 75AH is for the 3.0 LV6.

I'm intrigued to know what difference 5Ah battery capacity makes to anything....?

The recommended 75AH on the 3.0L also states 800A - so perhaps just a bit more welly for the bigger engine to use a technical term.

Sorry for the small picture.

The idea is that I will buy a aftermarket battery and it will have a different value, like 77Ah or 80Ah and usually a 70Ah battery have the Cold Cranking Amps smaller than 700A.

You really shouldn't go below the recommended 720 / 70 - especially with the X7 as there are a lot of electronics constantly powered, and as we know, C5s like their batteries in tip top condition.

Thank you Marc, the original battery si 720 / 70 and sometimes I have some strange error codes like:
- U1218 (One of the parameters present in a datastream sent by the BSI is invalid)
- P0215 (Poor operation of the relay, the ECU is not being supplied as it should be)
and I think the battery is at the end of life.

I don't want to go below 720A / 70 but almost all aftermarket batteries have bigger values for Ah.
For example I found exide premium 77Ah / 760A but the problem is that I can't declare 77Ah in the ecu #-o

That's fine - declare the nearest value to the battery you get :)

As a matter of interest - how old is the car (and presumably the battery)?
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

Inside every old person is a young person wondering what the hell happened.

Just fit the largest and best battery you can find. The higher the CCA and Ah figures the better.

Paul, is the original battery Exide 70Ah / 720A from 2012, the year of the car.

I found Exide premium and Tudor (belong to exide group) 77Ah / 760A both and I will set 75Ah in ecu.

One last question, I saw that some sites recommend Agm battery for C5. Can I install this type of battery?

I changed the battery with new one exide 77Ah 760A and I tried to declare 75Ah with diagbox but every time I get configuration error.
It only worked when I changed the "Battery technology type" from Freezing to Other. In that moment when I did the configuration the car was in Economy mode and suddenly come out from economy mode.
Battery technology type should be Freezing or Other? With "freezing" I can setup only 70Ah battery.

Can you advise where in Diagbox you are trying to change these values? What menu are you in?
