French Car Forum

Those of you following my V6 broken exhaust thread will know some of the saga I've been through in the last 2 weeks regarding a tyre puncture, which has just taken a much more serious and scary turn tonight. Rather than continuing to hijack my own engine/gearbox issues thread I thought I should pull this out into another thread.

Basically...

recently my exhaust decided we would part company and failed first with the cat to rear pipe rusting through and dropping...on m4 now so up in the air and disconected it from rear box...not fun on hard sholder lol
so anyway got bk and left the mid pipe in car and phoned garage who welded it up for me...great!
so going again month later same thing...

Hi Guys.

Went to start my car tonight and it would not fire. Well it was trying to start but not starting, like something was holding it back or not letting the engine fire and kick into life. I noticed at one point the centre screen flash up a warning which read something like Electronic Anti-Theft System Fault . After a few more attempts and...

Jut watching Real Rescues on BBC1. It is on til 11am.

And who should be on....

Malcolm!

Saw this BX estate and was thinking you don't see many of them on TV these days and there he was.

Anyway, hope your missus is alright.

Obviously missed this saga on the forum. Probably years old.

Anyway got it go. Glued to the telly waiting for him...

To bloody quick for a diesel....not that should be complaining though, especially through this weather, it's an 03 2.0, it only takes about 5 mins and it's the guage is bang on half way (at 6 o'clock) and doesnt move. It's just that I've known and read that diesels take or usually take ages to heat up....not this one

Have I got an early opening...

I'm just getting used to using Diagbox / Lexia, and thought I'd mention a couple of things which threw me to start with:
When the software is running through the diagnostics, the car behaves at times as though all sorts of scary faults are popping up - these are simply the various items being 'prodded', and nothing to worry about.
In addition,...

It's actually a Peugeot 406 Coupe but I know the engine is common.

Put briefly, my friends auxiliary belt snapped and caused the engine to stop. I've not seen it myself but have been told the cambelt has snapped also. Not sure if this is so but the engine won't turn over - according to the garage.

I've been asked if I'm interested in tackling...

I thought my C5 was developing a leak from both the N/S rear suspension unit gaiter and the four way union in the centre of the crossmember,.
Careful cleaning and close observation reveals that the fluid is in fact seeping past the breather hose where it enters the cross member via a grommet, and similarly past the bolt holding the union carrier,...

hi,
my C5 failed the mot the other day on the parking brake.....It has been in today for a new caliper to be fitted and my mrs took it for the re test, fine.....I went to move it tonight when I got in from work and it will barely move and there is a horrible burning smell?? The car (and clutch) was fine when it went in but now it isn't driveable....

Out of this likely lot below which one is likely to result in the best motor after some minor work?

Replacing a turbo isn't a biggy for me as i've done some of the worse ones ever designed!
Auto box's worry me, not only for the MPG drop but for the fact in anything but the fatty i like to stir the porridge as it were :)

Ideally im looking at an...

Hi all.

My first post here, as my post count suggests.

I'm not savvy with a name for the fault I have, so I'm hopeful someone will be able to help, or even post some links to point me in the right direction.

My problem is with the climate control in my 06 c5 1.6hdi.
For reasons best known to itself, it has decided to stop outputting warm air on...

I sometimes get Oil Level Measurement Invalid when I start the car. I presume this is a sensor issue? Also, I often get Economy Mode Active when I start the car so I guess this might be a battery on its way out?

Hi

It happens quite rare but sometimes when starting the engine the idle is rough for about two to three minutes. I am not sure but I think it happens if I haven’t driven the car for two to three days. I am not sure if it is related but when I start the car the starter does two to three revolutions till the engine starts to run ( plugs are new )...

What is the soft pipe beside the oil filter in engine of xantia 2.0 8v? Sorry can't post picture currently outstation.

The pump leaks and the 0-ring number #3 in the diagram should be replaced. For that the three #70 bolts have to be undo. Is this an easy job if not is there any thread describing step by step how to do it ? Any diagram/photo describing the inner structure ? Any pre – cautions ? Any springs to fit back

Thanks
Zohar

C5 HPI was going into limp/safe mode (2000 rev limit) if you put your foot down and struggling to start. Local garage connected Lexia up and said it was HPI Pump.

So popped another HPI pump on my self now it runs a lot better, i can do 70mph and she never goes into limp/safe mode but the engine keeps stuttering, power will feel low then from no...

Hi

It happened several times that when the pressure regulator ticks ( at least is sounds like ) the engine revs increases momentarily , now it happens more rarely . I noticed that at the time this phenomenon started the hydraulic pump started to leak. Can the engine revs be related in any way to the hydraulic system?

Thanks
Zohar

Two years and about 16k miles since I had a complete new clutch and main seal fitted under warranty in my 2.0 Tourer.

Last week I towed my caravan to County Durham which from my area means going up a long steep hill (between Tebay and Kirby Stephen). We went up no problem and carried on over the Penines on the A66.

On my way home on the M6 on...

I have recently changed the fuel filter on my car and have been through fairly deep water. Now when I do my first cold start, the car is lumpy and smokes for about 20 seconds, after this clears it runs okay. Sometimes the rev counter does not work and the engine is very harsh, if I switch off and on again, this will clear and the car runs okay. I...

Does anyone know if the delay before economy mode kicks in be altered on a C5 2.2 exclusive, 2008.?
Economy mode is always on when I start up, and if I do a short journey it kicks in immediately after stopping the engine. If I do a long journey, it sometimes stays off for 5 minutes or so, but never much longer. Bit of a pain if you want to listen...

hi guys!
I am the proud owner of a 2002 Berlingo car.

I'm going to attempt to do my rear centre sphere on my S2 xantia estate as its been a sinker for a while now. So before I buy a set of brake spanners I was wondering what is the best type and should i go for the Bi-hex or the single hex. Cheers for the help. :? :?

Hi

I checked the doser in the engine compartment and it is fully coated with LHM, it does not leak in the car though. Is there any thread describing how do overhaul the doser ? How can it be checked in situ ?

Thanks

Hi everyone,

I have a citroen c5 2004 2.0 16v exclusive (6 spheres) and I had a problem with my front right “SUSPENSION SPHERE BRACKET” (item 2 from the image below).

The rubber parts were broken and, after some weeks running this way, LDS started leaking through it… I decided to stop using the car to replace it, when the front suspension...

Hi my 1997 Xantia TD. normally the brakes on my Xantia are superb but resently, when Cold, the brake pedal travels a long way before the brakes grip! when warm they are perfect. should I be thinking of changing the l.h.m? any thoughts, any help greatfully received, Terry.

Hi all,

I am thinking aloud to fit a LDWS to my 2007 citroen. May I ask how feasible it is to buy the sensors from ebay and get it fitted by a mechanic?

Kindly advise me and Thank you very much.

I have noticed the C5 HPI seems to come with a Siemens branded high pressure fuel pump, but on eBay there are a few for sale that were bought as replacements few years ago to replace original faulty one and these are branded Continental . Did they do a brand change because the Continental ones are better do not suffer the common HPI fault like the...

Hi to all, I am new to the citroen world and unfortunately already need to ask a question, my car alarm goes off every time I unlock the car or open a door, even when car not locked. Every time the door is shut the alarm seems to arm itself after approx 45 secs. I Connected it to the lexia and shows No communication dialog with Alarm ECU. Any...

Lexia tells me that I have a permanent fault with this solenoid (HDi 2.0 16v).
I know where it is, and can surmise what it does, but when and why does it do so?
In other words, is it worth replacing this pricey part, when I've noticed no problems?

I have a very small issue with my gearbox - on cold start the first gearchange between 1st and 2nd seems to over rev a little. this isnt noticable when driving on the flat but i live on a hill and sometimes it is like it has been knocked out of gear and then back in to 2nd gear?

i have no other issues with gear changes and all other 1st to 2nd...

Hi,

I have a 2003 C5 HDi auto.... love it :-D

Only thing is it is sliggish to start and then fine all day. Reading some posts it does sound like it is the starter motor.

If i do go for second hand could you recommend a good parts provider or is it just google...

Done every check took all the advice off here (many thanks people) and today decided just to take the plastic covers off to check the little magnets on the flywheel to see why rev-counter was not working.
The little magnets where there oh yes but not as they should be just about half of them #-o

Ok folks, thought i'd test the heating out on my C5 prior to the winter coming. Put the heating up to 27 and lovely hot air came out...great methinks until i put it back to the 19 i normally run! Hi guys really dumb question coming up.
I'm just the process of wiring up my taxi radio and it needs a direct connection to the battery.
Positive side is no problem as the quick release clamp has a nut on the bracket to connect to. The negative however does not. I'm not happy about clamping a wire down the side of the clamp and terminal but it's...

I'm sure I have read on here of people doing this install into normal C5's.

I've got an exclusive and with leather interiors being so plentiful at the minute it seems worthwhile as would help my folks if they inherit it to slide my mum in and out.

Also can hatch and estate interiors be mixed like xantias could be or just a big no in c5's?!
