Xantia -Engine revs and hydraulic pressure regulator

Hi

It happened several times that when the pressure regulator ticks ( at least is sounds like ) the engine revs increases momentarily , now it happens more rarely . I noticed that at the time this phenomenon started the hydraulic pump started to leak. Can the engine revs be related in any way to the hydraulic system?

You'll notice it more if you ever try to jump start something - more current being drawn from the alternator means more mechanical drag on the engine, the engine speed drops a little so idle control kicks in and supplies more fuel to keep the engine from stalling.
Since the hydraulic pump is running on engine power it'll have a similar effect when the regulator/accumulator sphere wants a top up (when it ticks) but not quite so noticeable. I've never actually noticed mine doing this, or paid close enough attention.

its not quite like that, its more a case of the engines normal idle speed is slowed/dragged down, when the alternator regulator or hydraulic pump regulator kick in

It was quite noticeable I guess the revs increased by 200-300 RPM
