space saver spare wheel

Post by waveyr02 »

My 1998 synergie has a gas conversion so the tank has taken up the spare wheel well,i have been looking for a space saver wheel but cant find a citroen one ,so i wondered what the pcd is i have seen possibly 5x98 or 5x108 so i can perhaps match one up. I want the space saver type because i have converted the synergie in to a camper a space is tight. Thanks Simon.

It might be worth checking with your insurance company as to whether they will sanction this, as its non-standard fitment and you may find your insurance is void if this space saver wheel was fitted and you had an incident.

It always amazes me when I see these fitted to cars, as the drivers always seem to disregard the speed restrictions clearly stamped on the tyres. Worst case was a numpty that went past me in excess of 90mph on the motorway. [-X [-X [-o< 8-[

I dislike them personally, but never had a car with one. The c4 has 17" alloys as standard, spare is a 16" steelie, same width and higher profile, normal michelin 205/55 tyre. I am on the lookout for another alloy the same as is on the car. Hope never to use it, but i would want all wheels and tyres the same size.

I suppose i could carry tyre weld and a footpump , but it seems a bit risky although i havent used one before,at least with a spare you could get going again.

I had to drive back from Wales at stupid o'clock to attend a wedding using a space saver after a puncture left me stranded. 130 miles at 50mph is not to be recommended, especially when its on the front axle of a fwd car, the steering goes all weird on you cos of the different contact widths!

FOOT PUMP? You can pick up a 12v compressor for a tenner these days. Much more civilised!.

Foot pump will be quicker, less noisy, and less prone to not working when you need it.

The cans of tyre repair gunk are supposed to do the inflating for you though.
