Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Hi All,

After much looking I have just got a another Xantia which i found in Auld reekie.

It is white estate 130,00 on the clock and a full service history by a good independant citroen garage for less than £900.

It is another diesel but the 2.0 Hdi 90 hp,it runs good.

Hi

I am thinking about getting a Xantia. Reason being I want to be able to cruise happily for hours at 130kph-ish (with something left for overtaking etc) four-up plus luggage, with the air con on as necessary. It has to be relatively quiet and economical. Auto would be nice. I like white Xantias (especially the all-white Forté type) but that's...

As a follow on to my thread about my SX failing the test and due to the fact im stoney broke at the minute I'm wondering how compatible a couple of bits are if I was to swap them off my Activa in the short termto pass the test then get new parts and fit them to the Activa when I have cash?

The NSF Caliper being the only real sticking point...

The plan is to gradually replace all the bushes and such over time as money permits (drop links, rack rod ens etc), starting with the wishbone bush that it failed on.

Hi all

I know there's an AC section but it doesn't look too well read so I thought I'd post here.

Are the two AC pump types interchangable? Harrison and whatever the other one is or, the one that is split down the middle and the one that isn't?

Theres two types of Harrison Pumps...

On around 1997 model years the Harrison had two seperate type screw on pipes identical to older R12 type compressors....

Then later on they changed the connection to the bracket with single bolt.. these two types are ALMOST interchangeable... These compressors are slightly LONGER then the Sanden split body...

Got the immobiliser code for me car.

Can someone explain the process of programming keys. Including parts.

I need a second key as I paranoid Iay lose the only one I have while abroad or far from home.

Note: great topic title. Darn well mucked it up.

with my HDi just nudging over 180k i'm interested to see what other people's mileages are and what problems they've had. Really only after 110 HDi's here. (would be interesting to compare lexia readouts as well)

Has anyone tried, or know of any remedies to remove water spots off mirrors?

Xantia has some really nasty watermarks on the mirrors and with traffic behind, can make a right proper glare!

Glass cleaner doesnt cut it, was contemplating cutting compound but I think they're plastic lenses :shock:

I've successfully polished scratches out of mobile phone plastic screens and cleaned otherwise immovable marks from the windscreen using Peek and Solvol Autosol metal polishes. Use a clean soft cotton cloth NOT paper (which scratches even glass).

Try jacking the car up and spinning the wheels, if they spin fairly freely its just 'in use' heat, if not as spider says, the brakes are binding.

Hopefully posting here will give me better luck.

Right, said car is a 95 Peugeot 306 XSi 2.0l. (Same motor and box as Xantia and ZX)

Gear shifs are nice and normal with the exception of when going manually between 3rd and Drive - the engine cuts for a good 2 seconds. Weird in the fact that the 'box is non electronic...

Starts in Park and Drive...

A friend has had the engine management light illuminate of her 2004 C3 1.4 HDi, I gave it a Lexia session and found three codes, the first two; P1357 Pre heater relay circuit plugs not supplied and P0215 Ignition system supply relay circuit stuck were shown as intermittent and stayed cleared for the duration the car was with me, the third one one...

I am in the process of constructing a hydraulic pressure gauge to tee in the output of a pressure regulator to enable hydraulic line pressures to be read.

I need to construct a 4.5mm union socket to accept the hydraulic pipe flare that's normally screwed into the pressure regulator body.

If this is a change of the COM2000 unit it will not work, the COM2000 unit on the Exclusive steering wheel position talks CAN BUS the unit as fitted to an LX doesn't ( Mk1 cars not sure about MkII's)

EDIT The critical issue is whether the car has ESP if ESP COM2000 steering wheel position is on CAN BUS if not ESP Steering wheel position as such...

Hello,
Got a call from the Mrs, car ('95 Diesel Xantia) at Morrisons but won't start has been fine all day but now nothing. Battery ok (not tested on muti meter) but ignition key and under the steering column were very hot. Suspecting a short somewhere that is preventing the starter motor from turning.

Also manuals, some manufacturer's fit a clutch switch so you have to depress that before the starter circuit will function. Hyundai springs to mind here. Still its good practise on a manual to do that (I always do it...

However, Citroen has now withdrawn much of the information it had held on this site for older models. Parts listings for Xantias, even the later Mk2s are now down to sundry parts and fastenings, with many of the components that are...

Lexia says short curcuit fault. Light on.

I take it these are the airbag wires? Wiggled them and they appear in good nick but fault still on.

All MK2 regulators are the same. There is no difference between Hydractive and non-Hydractive.

In fact there's only three right across the Xantia range as I understand it..

The 'sinker' with the additional FDV feed; the coarse thread one that has a rubber seal on the pump pipe fitted to earlyish MK1s and the fine thread one that has the metal...

I have finally got my replacement bumper, which was removed by methords i would nt do to to get mine off, the big problem is getting at the midle 13mm bolts. how do you get at them ? as on a mk1 xantia you can pull the fog lights out, a mk2 xantia you cant !!!!! :evil:

Also there is a vertical torque screw (T15?) on the very tip of the bumper each side, screwed into a plastic gromet in the wing. Not sure if this is the same as the MK1

Good thinking :D I always (nearly) forget those...

And if you have headlamp washers, disconnect the pipe at the quick release connector just above the washer bottle...

Trying to work out what front corner spheres the 2.1TD has on it..

The numbers are:

N45332-SP857 (Amtex sphere)

02-04-08 (so not particularly old, but getting there..)

Any ideas what that sphere is? I'm not sure it's the right one..

hi everyone im hoping someone can help before i pay for an auto electrician.broke down last night car would not start the aa was called they said the fuel pump relay fuse had blown (f9 in engine compatment )they replaced it then discovered no feed to the fuse they said it was down to the relay inside the ecu box this relay is brown about 2 inches...

Excellent news in that you've found the problem Spliffy :D

I see no great worry in using a Saxo pump if it can keep up with the fuel demand and you'll soon know if it is struggling as the engine will start spluttering badly under heavy load/high revs.

Finally, today I'll be investigating the problem with the drivers side window on my S2.
Now I HATE anything to do with interior trim so I thought it would be an idea to determine the sort of clips used to hold the the door card in place before I break any with the wrong removal technique.
Can anyone advise the type of clip and the correct...

Would an original clutch that is on the heavy side be puting extra strain on the gearbox as apposed to a light clutch :-k

An old friend has a 1994 S1 2.0TCT auto Xm Prestige, in black with black leather, 24v alloys, climate etc and it runs on LPG.

However, the speedo does not work for the first 20 miles or so, after that it springs back to life and starts working again.

Is this likely to be a problem with the speedo head?

if the cruise control is working then it must know the speed surely, and if its like some of the early 106's it'll have a cable drive out of the gearbox with an electronic sensor on it (was the injection ecu on the 106). So we can rule out that part being at fault, i think the problem is within the join of the cable if its a 2 piece, you'll...

Hi guys, once again, my c5 has developed a new fault.

I noticed that in the morning the rear end of the car was completely sinked.

My first thought was that the rear spheres had had it but once unlocked the pump kicked in and the car leveled out.
I started the car and looked underneath the car, around the middle of the car underneath i could...

Interesting the comments re LHM your experience confirms my belief that LHM would do just fine if LDS not available.

Spheres & shock absorbers are one and the same. The spheres have an inbuilt self destruct mechanism, if they get too soft there is an internal spike which will puncture the diaphragm at which point the suspension will go rock...

I've got an increasingly worrying knocking coming from the front suspension on my '98 Synergie.
I have had the suspension arm replaced as the balljoint was knackered and I was hoping that was causing the knocking but its still happening and getting more frequent.
It started happening after having the clutch replaced and only when turning right,...

Hi, When I start my ,1997 Xantia , the suspension rises, stops at its height. Then as Iam about to drive off, it jumps up again ( back only )

I've used Westroen just the once for a set of sphere's for my Activa and the car rode rather badly thereafter with the rear being extremely sloppy (it was before I had a sphere pressure tester). After Jim bought the car from me we tested the rear sphere's and found them to be very low on pressure, Westroen said a loss of pressure wasn't included...

My xantia passed its mot YAY :P today, Just a couple of bulbs, Hopefully this weekend i will be giving the car a make over to celebrate as i have found a silver exclusove breaking for the bumper & bonnet !!!!

Had a couple of advisories on my C5 II v6 exclusive automatic yesterday.

Says nsf brake cooling duct missing . Can some kind soul tell me if this is a 10p plastic tube or a gold plated titanium casting machined to a 5 micron finish and costing 500 pounds?

Hi all,

I'm looking for some advice. Is the Citroen Xsara any good? I need to change the Saxo, the 3 doors are suiting at all, getting a baby into the back is a nightmare.

I've spotted a 1999 Xsara 1.4 locally. It has 93000 miles, short MOT (3 months) and no tax. It seems in reasonable nick.

My Saxo 1.4 is 1998, 82000 miles, MOT to Jan 2010 and...

a fuel pump was swapped on a 110hp hdi, and now it won't run :)
is there anyway i can code the pump to work with the new ecu?

this is not my problem - but i thought i'd ask =)

Hi all..

Ive a HDi 110bhp Xantia in, Ive found the non functioning turbo cause, so know what I need, but the next challenge is a blocked exhaust..

Well, its not completely blocked as the engine does run with it attached but theres minimal comming out the exhaust!

What is gonna be the easyest way to clear it out?? I damm good HARD blast with...

Had the sticking at zero fault with then low speed readings until it stopped for good.
The speed pick-up on the gearbox was cactus.
With a bit of luck, the connector may only need a clean or tightening.

Do Citroen keep a centralised service history, i.e., I have a C5 with no history although it seems to have been well maintained, can I hope to get its history from a Citroen dealer. G.

A Citroen dealer will only be able to tell you what servicing has been done at main dealers. Often is the case that when cars reach 3 years old they fall out of dealer servicing and go to independents, which is no bad thing.

Hi all!

Some jobs before my MOT me thinks... I'm going to replace the fuel filter - but have read some interesting stories about the problems this may cause.. Is it recommended to replace the whole housing? Is it not possible to just remove the housing and clean it out before fitting a new filter & reinstalling? Did I read somewhere the housings...

A young fitter looking over whilst I got this car started told me the magnet was fitted to the fuel pipe to catch any metallic particles that got past the filter, how true that is I've no idea, not something I've come across before. Gibbo.
That would (might!) only work if the particles were ferrous.

I believe that the swarf is golden colour...

No, our cat cleans himself, usually after eating.

Ah OK. I guess they meant Cataclean. GSF sell it, it's supposed to be good but I haven't tried it. I doubt that such a fluid could clean up a smokey diesel. Have you checked the usual suspects, air filter, oil, oil filter, etc.

Does anyone know if there is a direct replacement panel air filter (K&N )etc that will fit a 2.0 Hdi 8 valve Dispatch , I've got a K&N in my Zx16v and it does make a difference

I took my car in to a local mechanic to get the clutch done.

When I went to pick the car up on Saturday, they told me they had done the clutch OK but now had a new problem with the car and had spent hours trying to fix it to no avail.

I suspect the following has happened based on what he's told me.

1. They reported an immobiliser fault massage...

Here's an update on the C5 HPi.

The mechanic didn't seem to be getting anywhere. He couldn't source a second hand ECU and Citroen no longer stock the part as new (but would cost £850 new anyway so not an option) .

I took matters into my own hands and purchased another faulty C5 HPi for £350 off gumtree from someone local.

The car has only 54k...

Hi, I think I need to replace the rear radius arm bearings on my 1997 Xantia . The problem is , I know they are somewhere at the back of the car , but where exactly ? There is no diagrams or mention in the manual !
I find it much easier if I see the area Iam targeting . any help will be greatfully received. cheers Terry .

they are in each end of the trailing are at its pivot point,

they are what the are swings on with a long bolt holding it onto the rear sub frame,
