Xantia – Help needed correct assembly of hydraulic pump

Hi

In the following link there is a pic of the hydraulic pump assembly.

With respect to the above pic , does part #3 ( ring ) orientation is correct. In my Xantia the pump was removed and it looks like part #3 is inserted to the bracket inside out i.e. the ring shoulder (part #3) is between the pump body and bracket , as oppose to the pic at which the ring shoulder is between the bolt head and the bracket. I checked it with two other Xantias and it is assembled the same way as my Xantia , but it may that in all Xantias the pump was detached and assembled in the wrong way

I've had the pump out of my previous Xantia, in fact I stripped the pump right down but its years ago now so I can't remember small details like the orientation of spacers...

Also there are many variations of the hydraulic pump and mounting bracket depending on year, engine model, A/C fitted or not etc, so nobody is going to know unless we know these details.

The car is 2.0 V16 make year 200o with A/C. The photo I provided the link to is from Citroen Service per my Xanti's VIN number. Can't you use the link ? At least from my computer when I click it the image appears .

Zohar - are you speaking about the locating spacers that correctly position the pump in its bracket?

Yes that's exactly what I speaking about. Can you upload close up photos of the upper and lower spacers. BTW I tried to upload photos I took and they didn't show up (only a small blank square with "Image" written in red ) , can you explain how to upload photos, so I can upload the photos I took.

After the pump was attached I found the following nut on the AC, it looks like part #4 in the assembly , is that correct

I was incorrectly informed by the Service Citroën illustrations, too.

The way these parts work, is what I call "slip and grip". The flanged sleeve is free to slide left or right until you tighten the bolt/nut with a conical face - this cone expands the sleeve and locks the part into position just like a masonry bolt.

My pump has remained perfectly aligned since I refitted these parts in the correct order (using sense, not the illustrations). It's a little bit dark now to get a good clear picture, unfortunately.

If you look at the pic I named "Pic of lower bolt" ( third one ) it looks like the mechanics used to wrong nut , and the nut should be switched with the one I found on the AC compressor took its photo ( last photo ) right ?Once you will have daylight I'll appreciate if you can post a photo of both bolts used to attach the pump to its bracket ( the bottom one is a bit difficult to take its photo )

I replace the nut that secure the lower bolt with the one I found on the AC Compressor ( part #4 ) and the rattles disappeared
