Citroen to fit black box as standard in new models

Unread post by Mandrake »

Not sure that I'm too happy about the announcement that Citroen will be the first manufacturer to fit a black box to all new models as standard:

Another erosion of privacy or just inevitable in today's increasingly technological world where the powers that be want to monitor everything you do ?

I'm not to bothered about data protection personally if there are benifits to be achieved but I would have hoped for more than a 25% reduction in insurance for youngsters if they were shown to be driving responsibly. My insurance company asked if I would be willing to have one but as mine is not much over £200.00 they probably didn't think it worthwhile.

In a lot of countries they seem to have camera's in cars, don't know if its compulsery though.

I really do like the DS3 - I couldnt live with one every day, but perfect for the misses. However the high value they demand combined with a big brother black box now fitted ensures I definitely won't be buying one!
