C5 II outside door handle

Wifey could not open the door of her 05 C5 from the outside this morning. Are weak exterior handles known?

It opened fine from the inside...

It appears to me that perhaps the cable inside the door becomes stretched, the exterior door handles movement does nt allow for this. Its what it feels like, as often the door makes a noise from the catch but the catch is not pulled enough by the cable to unlatch it fully.

Phew.

It seems as though the car has fixerd itself for the time being; the handle has operated perfectly for the last five days....

How odd.

My C5 did this twice, once at a petrol station where I had to get in from the passenger side. Quite embarrassing!

If you push the door hard it will release (from outside, pull hard from inside but not the handle, it will break, drop the window and pull on the door).
Spray the locks and striker plates with silicone spray lubricant to keep them free.
