1.9 TD Throttle Damper

Post by Gregg1100 »

This Xantia 2 has a throttle damper that takes a while to let the revs go back to tick over. Can this be removed, please? Or have I got to fit a stiffer return spring??

Mine, an earlyish Series 1, had the black tubular damper fitted, and it did exactly as yours, taking a few seconds to drop to tickover - a bloomin nuisance. Just remove it, and the revs should drop immediately

Confirmed, same as the 406TD ones, most owners threw them away as they tended to wear and rattle annoyingly sometimes too. Did not in most cases need any anti stall adjustment either. They are surprisingly expensive new from the dealer too.
