Well what a day... an ideal for polishing as it is not warm nor cold ... eehhmm 7C it is cold enough but not freezing lol and most of all not rained! :D :D

Secured a deal today for a new car for me.
Took it for a test drive and all seems well.
Negotiated to get a new MOT as the mot will be up in June.

High mileage but loads of history, 53 reg 2004 model 2.2 Exclusive with leather, sat nav etc, Automatic.

As reported elseware, the XM is now safely sitting on my drive eagerly awaiting some TLC. It was fun getting her here, involving the hire of a self-drive car transporter and making a rendezvous at Wetherby services to load her up.

Had anybody here added their own little personal touch to their C5 to make it different from others? I'm not talking mesh and big wings here, just subtle styling mods that mark your car out as different. Just as an example, i spent a couple of hours yesterday fitting led side markers on mine, apologies for the picture quality but the camera phone...

There are C5s around (but rare) with bodykits, oddly often seem to be base LX spec. I did see a white Exclusive for sale on the net recently which had a full body kit (Citroen kit I think), quite possibly one of th emost hideous things ive seen and I AM a fan of the C5Is styling!

Ive not done any mods with mine, I have fitted chrome indicator...

On my way to do my Kangoo -> Ford Focus swap this evening I stopped off at a country petrol station to stick a tenner's worth in for the new owner.

I came back out and found this parked beside me - a 1995 :shock: BX van:

I dunno if you can make it out on the second photo, but it's getting crusty where the bottom of the rear door would have...

Are some cars more prone than other makes?
I'm not sure with regards this particular issue, I can help a lot more with the mechanical failure rate of certain makes, one or two surprises there :wink:

Well well well, it finally happened, the lure of the V6 was too much.

Last night I picked up a 1999 Xantia V6 from Xantia_V6. (Thank you lots)

So its a 1999 Xantia V6, so you guys all know it has the usual toys.....

Its metalic green with an approximately coloured spoiler ;) cream leather interior (has grown on me). It had a chavtastic front...

The interior that I used for this wasn't good enough to be used in a car again, there were no door cards, no rear headrests, and the back seat was damaged, and leather from parts of it was used to repair damage to the drivers seat.

Evening Folks,

I have a new member of the fleet to present to you.

Its a 1990 2.1 TD Manual. It has 22K miles on the clock and has just passed its MOT this evening, and the G Plate 2.0 Si passed its MOT yesterday evening. I must thank R9UKE on French Car Forum who found out about the car, and helped me track it down.

Evening Folks,

Yesterday I bought a nice little 1995 1.9TD VSX Xantia. The price was right, and it has only done 101K miles. Shes in quite good shape for her age. I'm going to use it until spring before I put the blue Xm back on the road for the summer. That is unless I can find another Xm to buy in the meantime.

I don't care what some say - I love the bonkers Xantia tartan in the VSX!
These seats are really nicely covered in the same heavy velour material as
the Activa but without quite their hugging shape. I'm not sure the spoiler
does anything for it even if it's a pukka Activa one - maybe the colour is
too sober to carry it off? Or maybe it's just...

MOT this morning at 8:00am on the V reg Activa when an attempt was made
to make a longer term more honest car of it although I felt a red form was
likely the failure points weren't anticipated.

The weepy rear ram boot arose a comment but no hemorrhaging LHM so it

Activa passed and I'm 120quid the poorer for the removed lock bolts,
a new tyre and their time sorting the replacement bulbs! Yay anyway!!

I think walking away with the x3 failures for them to sort yesterday
and returning to collect the car legal for that price isn't too horrific
TBH although the tyre isn't a top brand being the best the...

Well, almost!

Yesterday I went into my garage for some tools, and caught sight of a dusty 1998 Citroen Xantia 2.0, and thought - let's get you running again! :)

So I took the head off, and was suprised to see there was no damage to the valves or the bores!

I replaced the head gasket, along with inlet manifold gasket, and put it back together...

Oh well, guess I could start a blog here aswell:

Ookay, so story begins about a year ago, when i got a urgent need to have Activa, i found one for 1750€, went to look at it, minor glitches here and there, red interior lights (plus some blue neons) :P, some coolant leak and ofcourse all spheres gone bad.

400km drive home went well except i had to...
