Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Regarding my C5 (2005 model) 1.6 HDI. There is a small diameter (about 5mm) plastic tube or pipe that runs from under air filter/ air mass sensor area and ends near the turbo ish, its loose and I dont know where it should go ! It is also melted and sealed 6 inches from its end so needs repairing. It must have some purpose! The car runs fine but I...

Thanks Citronel, from the diagram you posted I think that my loose pipe is from the turbo. I had a new turbo fitted a few months ago and I think they replaced the vacuum pipe as its damaged but they just left the old pipe hanging around to confuse me. The replacement pipe is of a rubber type but seems to take the same route as the old plastic one....

I have an 05 Mk 2 C5 estate with factory fitted Xenon headlamps. Is it necessary to adjust them for driving in France or does the beam shape mean that they don't dip to the left and can be legally used as they are?
If they should be adjusted, is this a DIY job?

I've been driving in France in the C5 quite a lot over the last 4 years and never had a flash at me in all that time.

Whenever we use the Xsara I use the headlamp adjuster to knock the beams down by a couple of notches - again no problems.

I believe that the requirement is simply that you shouldn't cause an oncoming driver to be blinded so...

Has anyone used them before?

Im heading up to manchester in a few days and thinking of getting my spheres swapped out while im out there,

I would do it myself but thats one thing im a little nervous of doing!

Well they are cheap, though i wasnt aware they did Citroens own brands. My C5 had spheres from there, they were not Citroen units.

If your getting them you need them for a hydractive Xantia.

If your doing them yourself, then your best to get a sphere removal tool, will make it so much easier as you might not get them off without it. Some...

Hi All,

My lovingly cared for Xantia 2.1TD sx Estate has been a royal pain in the bum this week.
It was due its MOT this week and I knew it needed a track rod end for the MOT so I got a mobile mechanic to come to my work to fit one but when he tried to remove it it snapped in the rod so had ro be put on a recovery lorry and taken to a garage...

I find that the disable route is the best, as I find it a real pain putting a code in every time you need to start the thing.

I think I have mentioned elsewhere on the forum that my C5 has been running 'lumpily' for the past few months - can't recall exactly how long unfortunately, probably since around Christmas time and gradually getting worse.

I took it to be an injector on the blink and dropped it in with my friendly local mechanic for a bit of a look-see.

Will say that despite having look at computer twice, taking car for run twice, even steam cleaning engine to llok for leak, the garage charged me ZERO pence. Not bad.

Hi,

Made myself a leak-off kit for the faulty 2003 Citroen C3 1.4HDi 16-valve car that I've posted about on here before, as £60 too much for one. Used 500ml cola bottles, cable-ties criss-crossed around them holding them to a piece of cable trunking, the other half of the trunking on the base glued to the bottles with epoxy, and some 3.5mm tubing...

This exclusive does not even have half! Its just cloth. So yep im on the look out for some good old cow hide as i cant do with out it, and have already sent an email to the ccc member advertising it, however wales is a long way away!

I replaced 5 of the 6 spheres on my Xantia 1.9TD a few months back, (the accumulator could not be budged and the old one is still in place after a 5 foot leverage failed to move it)

Just recently I notice the car rises both rear (first) and front, when I start the engine, after the car standing overnight, this never used to happen, is this due...

There are lots of good winter tyres tyres about, though im not sure which are any good. We have a set of rims with winter tyres for the C15, as with 4 rear wheels pushing forward and the ones at the front trying to steer and set off, it can be very tricky to even get it going in...

Has anyone any useful tips for getting at the xantia exhaust front pipe flange nut and bolts to remove them. I can get a socket on them and turn, but only so far down and the bolts are spinning. I may eventually get the nuts off by re lubricating and working that way, but maybe you would suggest getting at the bolts from on top. I cannot easily...

OK chaps, my Xant is 'hesitant' when driven hard. Its OK at usual pottering speeds but if giving it some stick on a dual carriageway or motorway it seems to 'stutter' a bit. I have to say, I swear by my electric in line heater, its temperature controlled so keeps the fuel at 80 degrees.
Many people dont think these are any good (they may be right), however having run on veg oil with and without the heater ill go for with every time!

However for the Xm ill be using an inline heater initially then ill have a heat...

This is what me, my brother and my dad are doing just now the rear pipes on his XM 2.0i turbo. we have already done his XM 2.5td.

It's just there's a 2.1TD XM at the scrappy with a very clean pump on it, and well, Cassy's is not so clean and a tad moist...

Ok, I think I got it - the 2.1 has a different cam-plate, right? I thought there was some info on specific timing values. As far as I can determine, the pumps deliver up to 24 degrees at full advance - assuming a within-spec IP that is.

As for the VE, that's a broad code covering a wide range of types of which mine is the axial-pump, distributor...

Ah, seems quite a common thing this, certainly is on Xms.

Most likely a dirty connection, sounds a bit intermittent your ABS light problem.

Could you please advise what's needed in order to upgrade a 90Hdi (September 2000, 43000miles) to a 110Hdi? Thanks.

That is a good unit, i agree. We had a Freelander with that engine, it was excellent actuall.

Hi

I went to start the car this morning and the temp gauge warning light was on (and the stop light). There was very little water in the raditator so filled it - but the lights stayed on. The temp gauge was at zero.

Any ideas?

Thats a typical low coolant warning , I've had that on my Xantia due to a mysterious slow loss of coolant. Just diagnosed it to a leaking expansion tank cap. It was a very slight leak , from top up to the warning light would take 3-4 weeks.
That may not be the cause of coolant loss on your's , you need to check for leaks , water in oil , oil in...

Hey all,
I need to change the front pads in the Green Goblin (xant V6), I've had a look at the BOL, it only has a guide for one caliper type, the type with the retaining pin and flip up top, I did pads many moons ago on my old 1.9D which had such calipers and it was a doddle, however my HDi had totally different calipers, so I chicken out and went...

but i have welded severl ZX's that have gone in a bad way, mostly inner wings and front outrigers at the mow,

Since they are ratteling quite badly, I have decided to replace the injectors on my Xantia 110hp HDI.
Through Ebay I have gotten hold of a brand new set of injectors, that, though from a later model, supposedly fit my car.
However, before I take anything apart, I like to hear if anybody can confirm that a set of injectors part no: 0445110044 can...

Not long at all...

I THINK But not certain, when you switch the engine off, listen under the bonnet, and after about 30 seconds, a relay clicks in and activates what sounds like a pressure releaf valve, I had no problem with fuel spurting every where..

ITS ONLY the 8v engines were injectors come out OK, the 2.2 16v are BAD news in this...

Both the sensors I've nabbed from a 406 are reading 1600Ohms.

Hello all, just wondered if anyone knows any likely causes, other than the obvious hole in the exhaust.

Bit of a concern given the toxic nature of fumes so I have booked the car in first thing tomorrow to have the exhaust checked.

Having lifted the car up and given it a once over myself though, I can't see any obvoius holes/splits, the cat...

Been under the bonnet and fitted a new gasket £6.20 not bad. The old one looked a bit knackered in places. Also noticed a breather pipe under the plastic cover and not 100% sure if this was connected - it is now. Been for a quick drive and didn't notice the smell. Fingers crossed for the drive to work tomorrow

Earlier this year I bought myself a ZX Volcane turbodiesel off ebay, as a bit of a birthday present to replace my old 106.
At first, it was great. £500, a year's MOT, good condition apart from a few dents, economical, fun to drive, cheap insurance.

Im half way(ish) through replacing my leaking pipe, however i have a problem in that ive never done flares before, and the flares i can produce with the tool dont look the same as the one on the pipe i have removed!
The flare on the pipe i removed looks like this

Did the ZX ever come with an auto box for the 1.9TD, I know they came with the 1.9D, but the lever looks boring and featureless, no sports mode, ewww). In which suspension position is there the least pressure on the seals of cylinders valves and bits.
I'm guessing its totally up or totally down.

The way I understand it , there is always pressure in the hydraulic system , but if the suspension is fully lowered there is no hydraulic load in the suspension cylinders.

hello folks, im new here so be easy on me :) lol.

anyways im thinking about buying an xantia but i have a few questions.

now before we go any further my dad used to own a 1.9td lx which i thought was amazing and never let us down apart from when the linkage to the height adjuster had came loose which i fixed myself lol.

Zxs are good little cars, drive and handle well, dont have the hydraulic suspension so might be easier/cheaper to keep if your not used to that suspension.

Hoping someone has an idea what this problem is.

The car every so often is flashing the management light on and going into limp mode. When you switch off it runs on for a few seconds. Start up and the light is still on and the car wont rev over 3000. Do this a few times and then with the light still on 2 or 3 times later it will rev right up and...

does anyone out there know if it is feasible to raise the pressure from 0.6bar to 1bar on the sd engine to give the same output of the td. if it is possible how would i go about it and what changes / adjustments would i need to do.

Hi all,

Just bought a 2001 synergie 2.0L automatic. (love it!)

3 times yesterday whilst driving the display on the dashboard indicating what the gears are doing NPDR etc, started flashing rather than just highlighting D and it appeared to be stuck in 2nd, I turned off the engine and restarted and this seems to reset it all to normal...any...

Just sheared one of the long retainer bolts for the rear disc pads. Anyone know where I can source one on line or know the size and the type of the bolt to do a search or is it a long treck to the nearest Citroen dealer.

the seal on the plastic return to pump from distribution block went, citroen say the pipe comes as a whole £35, where as the pipe itself is fine it is just the seal on the part that goes into the distribution block that is gone, is there an alternative to buying the whole pipe? thanks

Umm, I'm thinking you are speaking of the pipe that runs from the large hex outlet on the pump (the one nearest the pulley) to the accumulator and it is clamped across the front of the front bank and runs down to the accumulator sphere block. Ive a car in for MOT pre check, and she needs a PASSENGER SIDE rack gaitor..

Yes, thats the one, the Passenger side, the one with the RAM in the way!

I can see that the Ram needs to come away, but what about the attaching point for rhe RAM, does it screw off with the track rod end attached??...

Well, this turned out not as bad as expected..

I tried the real world way, but there was no way enough room, then to top it off, it remove the ram, needed two supply pipe undooing, which I had NOT enough space to swing on a spanner to undo them..

SO Rack out! which was not as bad as expected.. I dropped the subframe on the drivers side, removed...

Leak off pipe has decided to start leaking again after replacing it with stuff from the motor factors. This stuff seems to be a load of crap. Is there anything on the market, that can just be bought in lengths and doesnt cost the earth that can be used as a replacement?

i just buy fuel line from a well established trusted local motor factors,

but this is not what i use for leak off pipeing, i buy this in a blister pack specificly sold as leak off pipe,

i belive it labled MAFCO
