Code help

Post by boristhespie »

Managed to get someone to read my car. Quite a few errors.

I would be grateful if you could help. See it as a quiz.

The two main ones revolve around the airbag which has a permanent fault and the light has been lit since last summer.

The other I suspect is related to the main problem I am experiencing now and which is the subject of this thread. Namely the STOP warning and temp light and guage zooming up and down.

I will discuss these first and put some other faults beneath them in case you want to comment.

MAIN FAULT 1, the Coolant temperature

P0115 Temporary fault. Coolant temperature signal - short circuit + or open circuit.

P1519 Temporary Fault. Cooling function incorporated into ECU consistency between fan unit speed and setting.

ON INSTRUMENT PANEL

Remote Fault, Intermittent Fault- Coolant temp incorrect value recieved.

THE AIRBAG

P1801 Permanent Fault Drivers level Airbag igniter open circuit.

Could this be the wiring having been pulled under the drivers chair? If so where is it?

OTHER FAULTS:

P1521 Permanent Fault Clutch switch Signal - coherence with vehicle speed?

P0571 Brake Switch signal Communication fault. Battery 13.5v

P2211 AIRBAG Front Right Satellite not defined.

P2210 AIRBAG FRont LEft Satellite not defined

P1537 Accelerator Pedal Jammed (V84->) Strategy Active

I Also had a number of faults which had NO code.

Engine Speed incorrect value recieved.
Coolant temp incorrect value recieved.
Vehicle Speed incorrect value recieved.

Battery Voltage seemed to be 14.2v but this was just a reading on one of the code pages so not sure if this is a true reflection of battery. Couldn't carry out battery test as don't have voltage meter.

Cheap multimeters abound these days and even more advanced ones can be inexpensive.
Something like this one should be adequate.

When Paul read my codes it came up with the 'stuck throttle' thing but it patently wasn't stuck.
It has been suggested that the throttle pot may be experiencing dropouts due to wear on the tracks but I haven't observed any flat or dead spots.

Has anyone an idea re the coolant error?

The stop warning and lights were beeping and going doolally today, so any thought would be helpful. Is this the sign of a duff collant temp sensor.

Want to get these sorted before i have big drive soon to south France.

Yes that sounds exactly like the coolant temperature sensor as I had the same symptoms with a Xsara HDi 110 in Winter time so it was obvious that it wasn't overheating. The sensor was around £12 at the time (18 monts ago) and is fairly quick and simple to do. Once changed I never got any more coolant temp warnings.

Only to agree that changing the temperature sensor would at least be a good place to start.

Bung your VIN on here and I'm sure Malcolm will provide relevant part numbers and prices.

I read that a failing battery can bring up all sorts of fault codes and looking through your list, suggest you night want to get that checked out first?
