Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Hey

I've been looking for a spot in the bulkhead to run a live feed from the battery to the boot for my amplifiers but I can't really seem to get through anywhere. Is there a common spot that is used?
Had also wondered if there's a simpler solution e.g. is there a heavy gauge 12v available in the rear, maybe from the suspension?

Funny you should ask this because i did this job last night and had exactly the same problem, i eventually found a grommet to the left of the wiper motor that was suitable. You will need to remove the four fixings that hold the wiper arm surrounds and then take the wiper arms off as well. This will give you enough room to lift the surround, look...

I think that I may have trouble with my right hand outer CV joint,I have had the symptoms a couple of times now.I was in a multi story car park, and on full right hand lock the wheel was jarring seriously, when I was leaving the car park I lowered the suspension to 24 mph at this setting the CV joint was OK .

If you have the translucent tank, rock the car sideways from the metal outside the radiator.
If the fluid sloshes around just above the tank seam at normal height, there’s enough of it.
If you have the black tank, set to low height and slowly open the cap, as there may be a hissing sound.
There should be fluid on the bottom of the cup.

Maybe the ac isnt working, have you checked if the compressor is running, if the system has lost gas, then it wont come on, hence the fans wont need to work. In this weather the coolant doesnt often get hot enough to require the fans to work.

hi there i have a 2002 c5 2.0 hdi lx and this evening i pulled up in the drive parked up and applied the handbrake but the hanbrake came all the way to the top, there is no pressure when i pull the handbrake up but once it reaches the top it does hold the car, i also had a look under the car and i cant see no fluid leaking as of yet but its dark...

The sister in laws c8 is showing antipollution fault from when it was bought. There was a quote in the service history (doesnt appear to have been signed off as paid like the other history so I'm guessing it wasnt done) for a refill of the fluid and diagnostics.
Is there much involved in deleting the DPF altogether, both physically and with Lexia...

I think thats pretty normal for an auto, from my (limited) experience if you were to take your foot off of the brake the car would gradually creep forward.
If I am sitting at lights for any period of time I just put it into neutral.

Hi all,
It has been quite a while since my last post/reply so I thought I would raise an old chestnut which has just afflicted my lady friends' Xantia. It has aircon fitted as std (auto temp control) but is out of gas - should not affect this posting though I think! The problem is the blower. One day she turned on the heater and no blower powered...

bloody sods law, just finished the work for mot ( ball joints ,boots on wishbones, boots on roll bar, new offside break caliper , front center sphere ,new LHM , all bleed,new thermostat ,housing and top rad pipe( quick release system, pain in the arse to get from citroen) i was bleeding the air out the water system and the head gasket has gone,...

Starter motor issues afflicted my HDI a few years ago, it was badly worn brushes and loads of carbon dust. The symptoms were almost exactly like a weak battery, the give away is the end of the starter motor gets very hot very quickly !! Rather than bin or exchange the Mitsubishi starter for an inferior make though, I rebuilt it.

Hi.

My father got rear-ended last week in his C4 GP, which has put the parking sensors out of action. The repairing garage said they would reset, but it appears (from Lexia) that the left hand side one is permanently beyond repair. It looks like the sensors aren't available separately, but come with the bumper harness. Unfortunately, he's settled...

As its cold outside this time of year and not much sun light I find myself having to drive with an old tea towel on my lap. I was changing the air filter on the wife's car and I ran out of time to do the plugs as it was getting dark. But I noticed that they weren't in the usual accessible place. I take it there must a panel covering that I need to remove to get at them?

Think I have found the cause for my C5 feeling a bit less than sprightly - was driving with the window open for possibly the first time since I've had the car, and could hear a rather distinct 'Woooooooosh' when under load, exactly the same as a couple of my other turbo cars did when boost was escaping.

Any common places to look before I go...

Check the intercooler itself as they are prone to failing. If you can hear the 'woosh' as you call it, i would say the leak is nearer the turbo??

Intercooler failure does seem to be a common failure on these cars, currently have it myself. I do wonder if the resulting often repeated turbo overboost that can occur with swirlvalve actuator failure...

I bit the bullet last week and bought a tuning box for my 2.2HDi from eBay. I was initially sceptical about it but after a week of having it fitted i'm pleasantly surprised by the result. The tuning box was set on the default tune and is adjustably both up & down for power. I find the car delivers power a lot more smoothly than previous and...

I happened across a DS Estate at work today, and was intrigued to see that it had 2 rear number plates.Obviously the horizontal one must move through 90* to be read, but what's the purpose?
I'm sure someone here can enlighten me.

Hi, I`m trying to release aux belt on my v6, now I`ve had it off before, with no problems. I`ve slackened both nuts and it wont budge! anyone any ideas?
By the way, and its probably obvious to one and all, that if you remove the offside headlight, it makes it so much easier to get at HP pump!

Hi All,

I think I should be able to get the crank pulley off with an assistant jamming a screwdriver in the starter hole, but since I have to order a load of bits from the UK, I thought about getting one of these as well.

Hi, I have recently aquired a 2003 C3 1.4 with a slightly juddering clutch. Careful driving can minimise this, but I don't want to pull it apart at present.
Has anyone any tips to cure it?

Hi!
I have problem with to get right height in the back.
When I high it to highest and then set the reglage at between normal and high. The car dont sink front or back at all. I must go from normal to middle high.

And the normal height back is little high, I havnt change anything back just greasing it.

Trying to trace a hydraulic leak on a Series 2 Xantia HDi...

It's leaking at the front left corner, seems to be a pipe that's tucked out of the way by the chassis leg at the back of the engine bay. After starting the car, it takes around 5 - 10 seconds for the leak to start then it sprays a high pressure jet.

I've followed the steering supply...

im currently driving a dispatch van 1.9d 55 plate and when i first got it the heater didnt work very well and the temperature gauge wouldnt go up that turned out to be a faulty stat so replaced the stat for a new one now. now my heater is roasting but the engine temperature is at nearly 110 all the time which seems a little hot. anyway today...

Whatever it's not right and a 1.9D should not run that hot. It's not good for it.

I'm wondering if the old seal is obstruction it or preventing it fully opening.

Get another seal, get another 'stat, test it and fit it.

It may be the rad is not happy. Is the rad warm all over to the touch when the stat is open?

Hi guys,

Last week I bought a 2004 Xsara Picasso (1.6 HDi Exclusive), and had it serviced by the dealer before I collected it. I now have a couple of issues, which I am hoping there are common fixes to try before having to drive all the way back to the dealer (which is a fair distance for me!)

There was a fault display for ESP/ASR and ABS, but...

Evening gents

Has anyone sorted out a low pressure leak above the rear subframe on an Activa before, the leak is about 1 drop/sec and i need to get it fixed, i cannot see any pipes that are leaking but the leak is coming off of the front edge of the subframe and running down to the r/h strut box, most of the leak is running onto the height...

Thanks Richard, i can see someone has ben fiddling up there as if i shine a torch up between the subframe and fuel tank there is a corrigated cable sleeve hanging unclipped, a keyhole surgery style poke with a screwdriveer revealed the sleeve to be empty so im hoping its just a case of pushing it back together and replacing some deteriorated...

Just noticed its 5W 40 or 5W 30 oils, I did the service today and i used the 5W 40. If anyone is interested Euro car parts has an offer of 25% off service parts & brake parts. I bought Air, Oil, Fuel filters for the xantia & Air & Oil filter for my wifes Clio and all came to £21.58 !! I did nt buy the cheapest parts.

Hi All,

I have a 1995 1.9 non-turbo diesel ZX, 136500 miles.. The little devil's started losing coolant fairly rapidly - up to a litre every 10-15 miles!
I don't drive like a looney; I live in the middle of Brittany and virtually the only trips I do are the 14 mile round trip to the local town to go shopping.
There's no wet carpets, and no sign...

Actually, not great comedy, in these temperatures..! My Xantia drivers' window gets confused (I guess it thinks it's trapped a finger) when closing, and opens nearly fully in response. If I clean the window top edge and top seal - a little car wax seems to help - the window closes for good. It can take a few goes though, and is getting worse....

The clip fails catastrophically and the drive cables end up looking like a rat's nest :( Basically, one end snaps and then one cable pulls out of it's slot in the clip and all hell breaks loose...

BTDT. The biggest pain was getting the old clip out of the window and the new one in (partly because rewinding everything else was done in the comfort...

I have been having occasional issues with the radio on my C5. It's possibly the RT3 model with phone, satnav etc, built in.

I seem to have a recurring problem with blocked jets on the Xantia.

I had a pathetic flow and of course went straight to the pump in case there was a blocked filter but turns out there isn't a filter so then discovered the plastic pipe had creased then cracked so haemoraging fluid all over the bulkhead! Put in an inline repair piece of a one inch...

As a short term fix use a strand unwound from an old fine steel cable such as a throttle cable or guitar string (not being a musician don’t know what key)

High E (the thinnest string) or perhaps the B string. The G string will be just a little too thick for this :wink: (Malcolm, stop sniggering :) )

My 2005 1.6 Hdi (137,000 miles) broke a valve. Cylinder head, piston and bore damaged. My mechanic suggested a used replacement engine. I have had an offer of a low mileage 2010 1.6hdi at a good price. What I want to know is will this much newer engine be a straight replacement for the 2005 one or are there going to be problems with electrics...

Hi, Iam about to buy a clutch for my series 1 Xantia . Where should I get it from, would it be best from my local Citroen dealer or from local motor factor ? Just got my xantia hdi back after it being towed to a garage by the RAC.The problem was a hydraulic leak from the rear cylinder (high pressure) pipe. As of now i am 100 quid poorer. The leak was quite substantial and needed 3.5 ltres of lhm to top up!Might be an idea to check your pipework.(weather permitting :lol: )I usually have a go at doing...

hi guys. ive got a p reg synergie and since ive owned the car the interior lights have never worked when the doors are opened........ the middle and right hand side interior map lights in the front dont work due to the switches been knackered and the rear light in the tail gate panel don,t either.could this be the reason there not working? like...

Hi, i have just bought a vts when i bought it the alarm was unpluged i pluged it back in and when i got home it went off after about ten minutes so i unpluged it and nowvits stil going off but without the sound. Ok what are they?

I went for the 2.2 as I wanted an Exclusive with ESP & traction control and just liked the sound of having a larger engine. I went for manual for the mpg.

Oh well my 2.2 seems to be doing ok so far, do 38 miles a day and now on 79k with no pollution faults, fluid last topped up at 50k.

Never really did any homework before buying my C5, I just liked the idea of the larger engine (never had a diesel) and wanted the kit of the exclusive like traction, esp, xexons bla bla bla.
