Insurance for my Xantia.

Post by lankytim »

Hi everyone,

What sort of prices are folks paying for their motor insurance? I keep getting quotes around the £500 mark for my 2001 HDI 110 which I think is excessive, seeing as my super quick Saab 9-5 was only £300 odd.

I'm 33, licence since 1997, full NCD, no points- I should be a really good proposition for them!

I've tried to usual comparison sites and i'm getting nowhere fast. Any advice out there?

Try the comparison sites ... then use a money back site like quickquid..You'll get between £20 and £80 back in about 3 months

I have used 'Confused.com' since they started and managed to get cheaper than renewal price every year, my C5 was about £170 this year and the 406 around £130. I would have thought with your age and NCD it should be cheap - unless you live in a high risk area.

Lowest quote for my C5 was £194 but £379 with my son (32) on it through Marks & Spencer financial services.
They were very quick and it was nice to talk to a proper person who knew what she was talking about.
Actually phoned them to cancel the renewal but ended up accepting it.

I've played around with the quotes and it's suddenly my address that's pushed the price up. It never used to be a high risk area!

There was a thread I started moaning about Xantia insurance being high from a few months ago. It's really high.

260BHP import Impreza - £28 per month, Mazda MX5, £22 per month, Berlingo £22 per month, V6 Cougar £26 per month.

110HDI Xantia - £41 per month.

It puts me off really.
