C5 electric seats

Post by myglaren »

My driver's seat is er... somewhat broken and the MOT looms.
I have found a set of leather electric seats but wonder if they will need to be activated before they can be fitted - i.e. to move them on the rails to access the securing bolts?

I had visions of replacing the driver's seat on collection of them but this looks like it may be a problem.
Haven't looked but I'm presuming my SX will have the right cables lurking there - somewhere :?

Excellent, thank you both. I thought the magic box might have to be told that they were present before they would move.
Bought them anyway, collecting next Saturday.

Half- fitted the front passenger seat but it does nothing so can't access the front bolts.
Must have been working to be removed from the donor car.
All fuses tested and working (even fixed the interior lights and fag lighter).

One of my headlights stopped working last week (just the dipped beam) supposed it needed a new bulb.
Had difficulty releasing the spring clip so whipped the bumper off to make it easier. The bulb was fine but doesn't get any power.
Poked around with a multimeter for a while but enlightenment never arrived.
Bought a pair of headlights from the seller of the seats.

Had a look at them this evening and see they are Xenons. Any ideas on whether they will work as intended in my SX? They came from an exclusive.

You need an 80a maxi fuse on the underside of the engine compartment fuse box panel, you should find a space.

Xenons will work, I just did the swap the other way, Xenons-->Halogen for my Dads car, but you will need to tell the BSI it has them fitted (or rather there are NO front Foglights fitted) and will need headlamp wash for the MOT

Yep, realized this morning that I would need the wash/wipe.
Anyone want some Xenon headlights?

I did look and according to the handbook there is only one fuse there for the air pump - whatever that might be.

I was rather defeated by the fusebox, not sure how to access the maxi fuses without destroying anything and everything.

ETA: Found a post by Cloggz that settles that problem.

its a pain steve.. the top part of fusebox comes off to expose the maxi fuses along the side.. but it was not clear to me how exactly to get the top off.. there were places for plastic tabs but I wasn't completely sure.. got it off and added the fuse.. seats fine but then i had 4 days without the car as the fusebox had become weakened slightly, and was causing a bad contact..

All functioning now - the fusebox is rather tricky to remove and I did spend some time looking for the right way and avoiding doing any damage.
Busted drivers seat took an hour to get out. About fifteen minutes to fit its replacement.
Just need to feed the autochanger now :)

John, corshef has indicated an interest in the Xenons so he will have first refusal.

I'm sending him some photo's that I have just taken and will copy them you you too.

I think that I have cleverly buggered the autochanger.
While cleaning the seats in preparation for fitment I extracted the cassette then replaced it.
Now it won't eject, just makes whirring noises.
Is there a trick to getting it out without ruining it completely?
