Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Good Evening All,

Just a quick one, when I got in the C5 and turned it on today, it flashed up the Airbag/Seatbelt Pretentioner Faulty warning with the service light on, after a few mins of driving they both went off. Now everytime I turn the car on the same happens, any clues?

can someone help me please

i lost my auxiliary belt driving up the motorway yesterday - managed to get home ok but now need to fit a new one!

BUT seeing as the belt isn't there - I haven't got a reference to how the new one should be fitted!

Can any one help with a routing diagram?

The garage, non-dealer, reset the fault codes etc. These have returned some hour later and thrown it into restricted revs etc. Eolys refilled and new DPF fitted so could somebody please point me in the direction of somebody in Essex (Lakeside) who can sort it out for me please. Or even better tell me how to sort it out. Thanks :P

What does the dashboard display say? Also is it a 2.0 or 2.2 and what year?

I became familiar with the DPF and how it works on our 807 (C8 with a Peugeot badge) when the sensor which compares the pressure before and after the filter packed in. I wouldn't have had a chance of fixing it without a Lexia / Peugeot planet. With this I could see that...

Hi guys....I'm Fresh Meat :)

Have run a \C5 for 5 years (2002 2ltr HDI) Exclusive with all the bits....but it DEAD now with both Radius arms gone/One rear strut leaking and 2 new frnt calipers needed.
The Car had Full leather, SatNav etc etc.

I have just picked up a 63k miles 2005 Facelift 1.6D VTR.

My question is what can I swap over before...

Radio I don't think will swap either they are of different facia and would look odd and not sure if it will drive the later display..

Yeh,,,,not looking at doing that...no fit .....? did wonder about the CD changer however, the one under the drivers seat.

Purely an educated guess, but I suspect the interior mirrror will be OK as it's pretty...

Had this on Juliet where it wouldn't lock the bonnet down because the release mechanism was stuck open.
Popped the panel in front of the latches off, scraped away a lot of gunk and relubed it.

SACHS, LUK and VALEO are bedfellows, you may find when buying a genuine kit or flywheel
they could be marked with any of the three or all three in the same box even two makers on the one part!

i dont know how true this is as i find SACHS clutch's quite heavy in operation/pedal feel

those spanners come up with the Lidl or Aldi badges on them every so often -and well worth the money! Just as long as you dont use them to crack the nut or do up to silly torque they are great for the likes of the top rear bolt on the timing belt cover or the A panel screws on a 2cv

Hi All,

First time here, so apologies for shameless request for help. I've just had the serpentine(?) belt changed on my Synergie SX HDi after it snapped. Afterwards I drove on to work and was finding I had very little power getting up hills/into high revs etc. I called the garage who fitted the belt and the mechanic said it had probably gone...

I have recently fitted a pair of Lizarte rear spheres and seem to have virtually no suspension movement, I bought a set of radius arm bearings thinking that was the problem but when I went to fit them I found that the arms were perfectly free, this leads me to the conclusion that the spheres are faulty.

Has anyone had any experience of theses...

Those of you following my V6 broken exhaust thread will know some of the saga I've been through in the last 2 weeks regarding a tyre puncture, which has just taken a much more serious and scary turn tonight. :shock: Rather than continuing to hijack my own engine/gearbox issues thread I thought I should pull this out into another thread.

recently my exhaust decided we would part company and failed first with the cat to rear pipe rusting through and dropping...on m4 now so up in the air and disconected it from rear box...not fun on hard sholder lol
so anyway got bk and left the mid pipe in car and phoned garage who welded it up for me...great!
so going again month later same thing...

Yep thank god I got The right pipe this time and I gota say at 56 quid I'm very pleased....also my old system had a middle silencer and this one doesn't but it still runs lovely....

Went to start my car tonight and it would not fire. Well it was trying to start but not starting, like something was holding it back or not letting the engine fire and kick into life. Well it more 2x 6mile trips. But thinking about it I also do a short 10-15 min local run of about 3 miles each day. Yesterday my car was started/stoped a few times as I checked oil, water and other bits ready for the trip today.

Hopefully it was one of those odd blips that happens at times and will not do so again. It's now 4:30am and we leave...

To bloody quick for a diesel....not that should be complaining though, especially through this weather, it's an 03 2.0, it only takes about 5 mins and it's the guage is bang on half way (at 6 o'clock) and doesnt move. It's just that I've known and read that diesels take or usually take ages to heat up....not this one

I'm just getting used to using Diagbox / Lexia, and thought I'd mention a couple of things which threw me to start with:
When the software is running through the diagnostics, the car behaves at times as though all sorts of scary faults are popping up - these are simply the various items being 'prodded', and nothing to worry about.

It's actually a Peugeot 406 Coupe but I know the engine is common.

Put briefly, my friends auxiliary belt snapped and caused the engine to stop. I've not seen it myself but have been told the cambelt has snapped also. Not sure if this is so but the engine won't turn over - according to the garage.

I've been asked if I'm interested in tackling...

The 807/c8 problem is breaking cam belt problems because of the water drain and engine position design

water gets onto the belt past the cover and snaps the belt.. they then cannot warm the engine sufficiently to get the injectors out and that's the issue.. the black sludge goes rock solid quickly when it cools that's when the problem starts.. if...

I thought my C5 was developing a leak from both the N/S rear suspension unit gaiter and the four way union in the centre of the crossmember,.
Careful cleaning and close observation reveals that the fluid is in fact seeping past the breather hose where it enters the cross member via a grommet, and similarly past the bolt holding the union carrier,...

Thanks for that.
I've proved that all the fluid is from inside the cross member, by sealing the breather into the grommet with silicone. The gaiter below has remained bone dry since, but, as you say, there's still a little reaching the four way union.

hi,
my C5 failed the mot the other day on the parking brake.....It has been in today for a new caliper to be fitted and my mrs took it for the re test, fine.....I went to move it tonight when I got in from work and it will barely move and there is a horrible burning smell?? The car (and clutch) was fine when it went in but now it isn't driveable....

Are you sure it is the clutch at fault and not the brake caliper binding and causing the clutch to slip as any fully functioning clutch would?
The garage will not have been anywhere near the clutch when changing the caliper. Jack the front of the car up with the handbrake off and try turning the wheels and that will tell you if it is the clutch or...

Out of this likely lot below which one is likely to result in the best motor after some minor work?

Replacing a turbo isn't a biggy for me as i've done some of the worse ones ever designed!

Malc, Jim is not alone in appreciating the finess of some of the Citroen designers and technicians. Shame PSA and Citroen did not have the jojones to follow Andre Citroen's lead in making technically innovative cars, irrespective of market trends. There are always going to be a few oddballs

hi, recently bought a c5 diesel 2 litre and not sure about the tyre pressure. it says on sitcker on door 2.3 front and 2.5 rear - but i checked online before seeing sticker - yes - icant beleive i didnt see it originally - all online site say 2.3 fron and 2.1 rear? puzzled? :? . also any idea how to increase hot air flow through foot area - can...

If you get chance to attend one of the rallies (one coming up on the 7th April ) you may be able to experience some 'proper' Citroen hydraulic suspension. C5s don't really compare with earlier models. An XM would be a good place to start.

My first post here, as my post count suggests.

I'm not savvy with a name for the fault I have, so I'm hopeful someone will be able to help, or even post some links to point me in the right direction.

I sometimes get Oil Level Measurement Invalid when I start the car. I presume this is a sensor issue? Also, I often get Economy Mode Active when I start the car so I guess this might be a battery on its way out?

Hi

It happens quite rare but sometimes when starting the engine the idle is rough for about two to three minutes. I am not sure but I think it happens if I haven’t driven the car for two to three days. I am not sure if it is related but when I start the car the starter does two to three revolutions till the engine starts to run ( plugs are new )...

2.0 16v Automatic . Wouldn't it happen all times If it was the FPR ? If it is the FPR why is it noticeable only on the two to three first minutes after starting the engine ? I can not tell if it like flooded , but it is rough I would say like one of the plugs is not firing

The pump leaks and the 0-ring number #3 in the diagram should be replaced. For that the three #70 bolts have to be undo. Is this an easy job if not is there any thread describing step by step how to do it ? Any diagram/photo describing the inner structure ? Any pre – cautions ? Any springs to fit back

Today realised that the passenger side low beam xenon ligh bulb is not working anymore :( ... so it will need to be replaced.
I have never replaced a Xenon bulb before so ... the factory standard one what colour in K is it? I am happy with the colour the existing ones emmit at the moment. So I want to have the same.

C5 HPI was going into limp/safe mode (2000 rev limit) if you put your foot down and struggling to start. Local garage connected Lexia up and said it was HPI Pump.

So popped another HPI pump on my self now it runs a lot better, i can do 70mph and she never goes into limp/safe mode but the engine keeps stuttering, power will feel low then from no...

Hi

It happened several times that when the pressure regulator ticks ( at least is sounds like ) the engine revs increases momentarily , now it happens more rarely . I noticed that at the time this phenomenon started the hydraulic pump started to leak. Can the engine revs be related in any way to the hydraulic system?

Two years and about 16k miles since I had a complete new clutch and main seal fitted under warranty in my 2.0 Tourer.

Last week I towed my caravan to County Durham which from my area means going up a long steep hill (between Tebay and Kirby Stephen). We went up no problem and carried on over the Penines on the A66.

I have recently changed the fuel filter on my car and have been through fairly deep water. Now when I do my first cold start, the car is lumpy and smokes for about 20 seconds, after this clears it runs okay. Does anyone know if the delay before economy mode kicks in be altered on a C5 2.2 exclusive, 2008.?
Economy mode is always on when I start up, and if I do a short journey it kicks in immediately after stopping the engine. If I do a long journey, it sometimes stays off for 5 minutes or so, but never much longer. Bit of a pain if you want to listen...

hi guys!
I am the proud owner of a 2002 Berlingo car.
lately it began having problems with the air conditioner control unit, not the least being its failure to start the engine fans.
point is I can't find the darned module anywhere.
does anyone have knowledge about it location? It doesn't show up even in Haynes' books!

yes' I tried it and the darned blowers came up. A friend of mine found out that the pressure sensor of the air conditioner's gas dessicator was leaking and there was no gas: that's what kept the left blower off. it won't even engage the compressor.
BTW, I also found out that the blasted module is UNDER the fuses panel (sort of a basement level)...

I'm going to attempt to do my rear centre sphere on my S2 xantia estate as its been a sinker for a while now. So before I buy a set of brake spanners I was wondering what is the best type and should i go for the Bi-hex or the single hex. Cheers for the help. :? :?

I stand corrected. That nice (expensive) Laser brand spanner seems to be flat drive too. But like you, Simon, I would use the bi-hex end on a rusty nut, at least until it was moving reasonably easily. I bought a complete set covering every size on a Xantia (and some others) for about £20 from Sealeys.

I checked the doser in the engine compartment and it is fully coated with LHM, it does not leak in the car though. Is there any thread describing how do overhaul the doser ? How can it be checked in situ ?

I have LDWS on the C6, and there are both pro's and con's to the system. one of the biggest cons is that the white reflective paint on the road can sometimes set the system off, by this I mean direction arrows at junctions, which can be annoying, the pro side for me is that I suffer with hayfever and have been known...

my sister in law and mother have both owned citroen automatics and they both seemed to need a lot of wellie to move away form stationary position - much more than other autos i have driven.

ZF boxes usually pick up quickly with not much slipping. I find Aisin and older Jatco boxes a lot more slushy that ZF.
Apart from the mechanics of the box, some car company's software can have a bearing on feeding the power in.
They will benefit from fluid changes.

Driving around this week the depollution message came on ,thinking it was the DPF was at fault ,dropped it out and gave it a clean out dried it out and replaced this morning ,

Lexia tells me that I have a permanent fault with this solenoid (HDi 2.0 16v).
I know where it is, and can surmise what it does, but when and why does it do so?
In other words, is it worth replacing this pricey part, when I've noticed no problems?

I suspect that the bypass circuit is opened when starting from cold, to allow faster warm up of both the engine and the cabin; a sort of extra thermostat controlled by the ECU. If it stayed open, I'd certainly expect overheating under heavy load. In my case, the solenoid is 'shorted to positive' in Lexia's terms, so probably not opening the...

I have a very small issue with my gearbox - on cold start the first gearchange between 1st and 2nd seems to over rev a little. this isnt noticable when driving on the flat but i live on a hill and sometimes it is like it has been knocked out of gear and then back in to 2nd gear?

i have no other issues with gear changes and all other 1st to 2nd...

If the gearbox is a 4HP20 (which I believe it is, off the top of my head) then holding the revs when cold is perfectly normal behaviour.

The ECU is programmed so that a cold start when the gearbox oil is below a certain temperature (a few degrees above zero) results in 1st gear being held up to around 3000-3500 rpm even with a light throttle....

Only thing is it is sliggish to start and then fine all day. Reading some posts it does sound like it is the starter motor.

Should i chance a secod hand one and save pounds or should i go for a new one?
