Identifying LHM return pipe

Post by Nitrosurf »

Hi all,

I'm having trouble identifying this pipe that I've removed from my '98 Xantia 1.9TD, it's a return pipe to the LHM reservoir but I need to either get a part number or be pointed in the direction of someone who can help, as I need to order a new one...There's a few on Ebay but they don't look the same as this. It runs from the top of the reservoir down behind, splitting into two to attach to narrow gauge hard piping just down from the reservoir and also to a narrow gauge line that runs under the car to the rear. At this point it also splits off to attach to some even narrower gauge pipe work. Yes, before the more eagle eyed of you ask, it has been cut at the one end. Suffice to say it didn't leave the factory like that!

GSF only have the strut return pipe listed, can't find any other LHM related pipe work at all!

You did well to remove that one :)

I believe it's the one that deals with the front strut returns and rear cylinder returns..

Service.citroen may list it as being still available. I can look later but not now as I have no access...

Else that it'll just have to be carefully repaired...

Thanks for the response! I would really appreciate you looking, I tried to effect a repair but couldn't get a good seal. The bit that originally went was the double-ended bit that joins just under the reservoir. I really hope its a replaceable part, otherwise i'll have to creatively graft bits together in the vain hope that they stay together...

Oh, and yes it was a sod to get off, I have a couple of lovely lacerations on my left hand...thanks for the easy access Mr. Citroen!

Thanks again!

Years ago a friend had the same problem, he went to our local hydraulic place, Blackwell hydraulics, and they made him a new one for about 20pounds.

Had to replace one of the solid lines there once. Not in the slightest bit funny!

I think it's this one, but can't be 100% sure - don't know if this is a MK1 or 2 car? Still showing as available, but whether that is true or not....
MK1:

Part Number Description Quantity Price excl. VAT Price incl. VAT Total incl. VAT Selection
00005270P3 OIL BACK HARNES 34.37 GBP 41.24 GBP 41.24 GBP

MK 2:

Part Number Description Quantity Price excl. VAT Price incl. VAT Total incl. VAT Selection
00005270JK OIL BACK HARNES 34.44 GBP 41.33 GBP 41.33 GBP

Looks like you might be in luck for a slightly cheaper MK1 one on the 'bay: 5270 P3

Thank you all for the replies! Yes it is a mk1. When I get home from work I'll check the VIN number and post the relevant bit, thank you. I wasn't sure about getting the part made up from a hydraulic specialist because of the way it splits up, thought it may be expensive...Right, lets have a look at that eBay link...

It's all a bit academic really as I would image any warranty has now long run out...
