Disabling Xantia alarm?

It only needs doing once but will need to be done every time the battery is disconnected and reconnected.

What jim said is true, i had to do the same even when I got the plip going as the alarm had a headfit. Apparantly the correct reset procedure is remove battery negative, refit and quickly turn ignition on when holding the alarm button down. The indicators should flash!

No, not too bad Mike, my old problem has flared up a bit and I'm slowly rebooting. Hopefully back to normal in a day or so.

You need a key as well as the fob to resync them. Some bizzare ritual of ignition and keyfob presses

Don't know if this applies to all xantia's but my alarm is cancelled just by insering key and turning on ignition - no need to hold the U/S sensor button.

Must be an X2 feature, mine will go off regardless!

You can also turn the alarm off by opening the bonnet and turning the key switch in the skuttle panel. It's on the passenger side IIRC, has a plastic flap covering over the top of it.

That 'permanently' switches it off (until you turn the key switch back on again). Remote locking/deadlocking from the plip still works fine.


I'd recommend silicone spray for freeing up the locks. They're a pig on my Activa too (what comes from sitting around for years ) Most important thing if there's a chance the battery will go flat before you next want to unlock the car... Don't deadlock it! (Not that I've found that out the hard way, you understand...)

That switch does sweet FA in my xantia btw. The old fellow before had removed the relay for the lights and said he'd disabled the alarm, if i remove the battery it will sound but if i alarm the car and open it/set off the ultrasonics it will only flash the lights, regardless of what I do with the keyhole!!

I got it working perfectly for about a week though!

The key switch was deleted in later S1 models. My Activa lacks it..

Shame really as it was an excellent idea.

Do you have to turn it with the alarm set or unset? As my alarm now sets but doesn't sound!!

I believe, may well be wrong, the switch only disables the siren, not the alarm itself....

it does, however my siren only sounds if you take the battery off! so i've got an issue somewhere
